Was the Civil War all about abolishing slavory? Or was it for a diffrent reason?

when they don't even know what a proposition, syllogism, or fallacy is? Strictly speaking, how can a person philosophize without knowing the basic and elementary knowledge of logic? Most yap about Descartes, Kant, epistemology, existentialism, etc. without the slightest knowledge about how, for example, are arguments in ordinary language can be reduced to syllogisms.

I doubt nobody can answer my question. Only those who know and are on the same wavelength with me are genuine philosophers.

here's the poem:

the world is not a pleasant place
to be without
someone to hold and be held by

a river would stop
its flow if only
a stream were there
to receive it

an ocean would never laugh
if clouds weren't there
to kiss her tears

the world is not
a pleasant place to be without
someone

Hi, I'm a 20yr student in a 3 year college career Illustration program. However it's fairly intense and I've had to take it at my own pace and take time off here and there. I havent been taking any classes this past semester but i'm going back in the next semester. my problem is i feel like i've lost my motivation and inspiration in life. Like my interests have been limited and i just don't know where to go to open up my horizons about different things. be it anything, i'm interested in fashion, illustration, painting, history, philosophy, tv, movies, MUSIC, reading of all sorts. i'm a knowledge junky but i feel like i'm not learning anything new right now. i don't even have a favourite artist at the moment. if anyone has any suggestions, recomendations or adivce of any kind! please feel free to give me your opinions. i just don't feel like myself lately and i'm not sure how to get it back.

Thank you :

I've been thinking about auditioning for a musical either at the Muni or the Theatre in the Park.

TIP is fairly small, so it's more likely for me to get a part. (They are putting on Kiss Me Kate, Two by Two, and Anne of Green Gables...I've only heard of the first.)

The Muni is larger, which either means I won't get a part or I'll be part of a very large cast (which I don't mind). They are putting on The Music Man, Hello Dolly!, The Secret Garden, and All Shook Up. (I've only heard of Hello Dolly! and The Music Man)

They are both near the same distance away from where I live (TIP is only a few minutes further). And if I remember right, the auditions are around the same time that my school puts on our musical (auditions for that are in a couple weeks).

If I go for it, which theatre should I audition with? And what show?

im going to audition for a play at my school..
i was just wondering.
does anyone know if a really kick-butt audition song?!
it has to be from a musicial...and i kind of prefer one that's not too well-known or overly done [["tomorrow" "somewhere over the rainbow" etc.]]

...
if you find one..
could you also attach a link to a place that might have what it sounds like..like a youtube video or something?!?!
...
its okay if you dont though...
:]]

THANKS GUYS!!

What do you think of this poem? It doesn't have a title yet. Thank you for your time!

That little boy blue sits crying in the night
He cries “Daddy why?”
Beaten down and kicked around
Childhood of pain
Swore it wouldn’t be the same

Little girl sits scared in the night
She cries “Mommy why?”
Bitter words and angry tears
Childhood of pain
Swore wouldn’t be the same

They were young, fifteen at most
It seemed like the perfect escape
But was it love or was it lust?

Graduated and educated
Moved to a big town and married
They both escaped a childhood of pain
Swore it wouldn’t be the same

Some years down the road the time was right
Their daughter’s birth was a beautiful sight
She wouldn’t grow up with a childhood of pain
They swore it wouldn’t be the same

I was beaten down and kicked around
Bitter words and angry tears
I endured a childhood of pain
The bruises have faded and the tears have dried
The nightmares still remain
I can't let it be that way

Now don't tell me, in your community. I have done a ton and a ton of community things. I am at the point where I need to be getting bigger and better jobs. Utah is second in states for the most movies produced and filmed there. I sing, act and model. So any comment would be helpful. THANKS

It was read on the radio during this year. The boy was possibly a Jewish refugee. He meets up with various people who help him including a painter. I thought it was called "my name is David " but I can't find it under that title.
