This sounds like a homework assignment, but just for fun, The colonists were getting tired of the increased taxation that King George was putting on them. They also resented the British soldiers who were stationed in their towns, and in some cases were living in their homes. With England being six or more weeks away, the colonists felt that they could better govern themselves, and take care of immediate problems, without having to wait for a ship to travel to England, inform the King of the problem, have him make a decision, and return back to inform them. The final decision was made by the colonists, with the King's creating a tax on tea. This was done, as the King was low on funds, and felt that the colonists would solve his insolvency for him. At this point the colonists decided to rebel, and declare their own government.

There were 8 main events that led to the Revolutionary war:

1-- Brit policy of salutory neglect towards colonists
2-- Brit mercantile wars in america, and how they make colonists pay
3-- Brit try to use mercantilism in america (= lots of laws like the stamp act)
4--British pass Townshed Duties (leads to the Sons of Liberty etc)
5-- Boston Massacre and how the Americans precieve it
6-- British Tea Tax (lead to Boston Tea Party)
7--British response to Boston Tea Party (Brits in Boston, close port, Brit control local gov, and Quartering Act)
8--British troops in Lexington and Concord

Hope this helps!
