the artist is Alex Austen 1913, it seems to be quite well painted.
I have tried many times to find out about him on the internet, he cannot be a well known artist. Any ideas about how I might get some info about him?

La Belle Dame Sans Merci ( The Beautiful Lady Without Mercy) by John Keats

Ah, what can ail thee, wretched wight,
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge is withered from the lake,
And no birds sing.
Ah, what can ail thee, wretched wight,
So haggard and so woe-begone
The squirrel's granary is full,
And the harvest's done.

I see a lily on thy brow
With anguish moist and fever dew,
And on thy cheek a fading rose
Fast withereth too.
I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful, a faery's child:
Her hair was long, her foot was light,
And her eyes were wild.

I set her on my pacing steed,
And nothing else saw all day long;
For sideways would she lean, and sing
A faery's song.
I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too, and fragrant zone;
She looked at me as she did love,
And made sweet moan.
She found me roots of relish sweet,
And honey wild, and manna dew,
And sure in language strange she said,
"I love thee true!"
She took me to her elfin grot,
And there she gazed and sighed deep,
And there I shut her wild, sad eyes--
So kissed to sleep.

And there we slumbered on the moss,
And there I dreamed, ah! woe betide,
The latest dream I ever dreamed
On the cold hill side.

I saw pale kings, and princes too,
Pale warriors, death-pale were they all;
Who cried--"La belle Dame sans merci
Hath thee in thrall!"

I saw their starved lips in the gloam,
With horrid warning gaped wide,
And I awoke and found me here,
On the cold hill side.

And that is why I sojourn here,
Alone and palely loitering,
Though the sedge is withered from the lake,
And no birds sing.

Youre a 10th century European peasant. Your skin is pasty white. Your face is rotting from lack of fruits and vegetables in your diet. The king whips you for not accepting his version of the Bible. The plague has wiped out half of your family, and every year, there's a new lunatic monarch who rapes children and eats his own skin. Your genitals turned black and fell off last month because of frostbite. You're wearing rags and its 20 below.

The Pope says that Jesus Christ loves you and will reward you with eternal life in a warm, happy afterlife, if only you wouldn't mind travelling to Asia Minor to slaughter the Muslim invaders.

"Hmm... maybe I can warm myself with the blood of the infidel."

I live in the North east coast of England where the Vikings invaded as most of the settlers were men, as very few bought wives with them, do you think genetically this invasion still reflects in the current population? Its just something ive visually noticed walking around. (even in myself and my brother)

and that was the only thing that mad him even remotely happy, would you allow him to kill himself? What if he lost his feet as well? Why might you force him to value his life? If you do not think he should be allowed to kill himself, why do you think you have the right to stop him? Just questions to make you think..... I am perfectly happy being alive.

Someone

I'm looking for someone not afraid to share how they feel
Somebody who won't pretend, but instead reveal

Someone who I can run to, they'll shield me in the rain
Someone who loves my company and I will feel the same

Somebody who's very special in each and every way
Somebody that I will wish for each and every day

It may seem that I ask for much but it's just so easy to do
But I can't help the way I feel
When I'm so in love with you
