Jason,
Hello again! I see your question and can in some form understand the train of thought behind it. You are a well read person on WW II.

As you know PM Churchill, President Roosevelt, PM King (Canada), Stalin and others knew that the war in Europe was to be decided first - while maintaining a continued attack presence in the Pacific. On the macro view it does look like WW II was set as Reich vs. Russia, Imperial Japan vs. America; however, as you know as early as 1942 an attempt at Dunkirk (failed) but provided insight as to what would occur in the future of that war merely 2 years and several months later.

Operation Barbarossa turned out to be a failure (1941 just as Pearl Harbor began the involvement of the USA), then a year later Stalingrad falls (1942) - all but ensuring the fate of the over extended German Reich. Japan had been fighting the allies as well in the Pacific theater. A discouraging point for consideration was Ghandi. He in fact encouraged the Indian people to accept the Japanese if they ever came to India - he had no idea what the Japanese Imperial Armed Forces would have done there had this actually occurred. One just merely needs to look to China to see what would have been the case in this point as well - this is how anti British the country of India had become at the time.

The short answer to your question - no, not when you consider the Western Front that Stalin had asked for then received, then never acknowledged as significant to the fight against the Reich. The Russians later would assist the USA, Australians, NZ Kiwi's, British, and others in the fight against the Japanese.

When the Germans declared war on the USA, the Germans were confused on the Eastern Front why the Japanese never declared war on the Russians - yet hostilities had been on going since 1905.

Have a good day!

Gerry :)

Then Japan attacked the USA in December 1941 and Germany declared war on the USA two days later
Japan also attacked those parts of the British Empire in Asia such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Burma.
After Germany declared war on the USA, the USA came into the war against Germany on the side of Great Britain and the Soviet Union.

No, the western front was a combination of the UK, Canada Australia, NZ and America v the Germans. The British 8th army also fought the Germans in North Africa and the British and australians fought the Japanese in places like Burmah. You should know yourself that the Japanese fought the British at the Battle of Singapore.
