I'm getting a bunch of art stuff for my birthday and I have this already:
Brushes
Paints (oils, acrylics, water colors)
Painting apron
Charcoal
Books (art manual and how to draw the human head)
Canvases
Paper
Skechtpads

Is there anything else you can recommend for me as a beginner?

a drop sheet to protect your surrounds just in case you drop it on the ground.
erasers
glue
scissors
varnish or matte spray to finish your work off
pencils of different variations
throw away palettes
palette knifes are a different form of painting than with brushes...both are nice.
Well that's all i can think of right now. Good luck! Never give up. :D
