Many philosophers have come up with the idea that humans have more value than animals and others have said that humans and animals are equal.
James Lovelock's Gaia hypothesis challenges the view that humans are the most important species and sees humans as part of a living whole- Gaia. Gaia being the Greek goddess of the Earth. According to him, all life forms of the planet are part of Gaia -looking at the earth from space,Lovelock saw not so much a planet of diverse life forms as a planet transformed be self- regulating living systems; it was almost a living being.
I personally believe that, to a certain extent, humans hold the same value as animals. My reasons for saying so are that as humans have evolved from apes and apes are considered animals, are we not therefore animals ourselves? It has been said and confirmed by scientists..
Please explain your reasons to believe whatever it is you believe.

Hello there, I am looking for a great fiction book that I could read. I don't want just any book, I would like a book that is possibly high level, the reason being, I want to improve my writing skills (punctuation, outline, etc).

Here are some of the genres I like in books; Drama, Mystery, Horror, Teen (if it high leveled), Eating (as in people with eating disorders, over weight, etc), and some books with a little bit of romance in it.

Thank you!

(By the way, I am a 16 year old male)

What does that mean? Can I just email her a symposis of the story? Is there a particular formatt that I need to be writing in? This means alot to me, and I want to make sure it's perfect..

I find it humorous that a person who asks a question on a website solely based for asking questions gets shot down for doing just that. I do not post questions for rude answers- I post them for constructive criticism. Telling me that I am stupid for pursuing a photography career because I have not gone to school to learn the encyclopedia for a digital camera is absolutely the most absurd thing I have ever heard. You can purchase the most expensive camera, go to the best school out there, and set yourself up with some fancy studio... that does not give you the talent to take a beautiful picture OR the position to degrade anyone who is out to pursue a hobby.
I consider myself an amateur PHOTOGRAPHER who is only out to my better my photographic capabilities. I don't steal people's money and give them poor photos. I work hard at what I do. I could never imagine using any of the people who "answered" my question as a photographer due to their cocky arrogant nature. You're going to fail.

The Q w/added details: "Have U ever asked philosophy Q's about ideas U don't agree with to understand better why you disagree w/them?

This is part of my ongoing series of Q'.s that I design to ask to find out just why people in the category of philosophy post the Q's & A's they do, where giving A's are much preferred by many over asking Q's for reasons that we won't go into here.

Good A's to such Q's by others may agree with the ideas you disagree with. That is also part of rationally understanding the ideas you disagree with. Sometimes other people's defense of those ideas may be better expressed, etc."

The possible Strawman A in reply:
"Wow, no! I do not disagree with concepts without scrambling to find the supporting evidence--or lack of it--through my own resources. Often I already have a basis in knowledge & a strongly held opinion bec of that knowledge when I discover a concept I find disagreeable.

Do you notice this in your own work? Sometimes I might feel inspired to write about something really joyous or happy that I see or experience, but I can never find the words to express it as well as when I'm describing something painful.
