1) The irony is that the women are all talking about feeling sorry for the repressed people, but none of them have a problem oppressing black people.
2) It represents the finer aspects of humanity; the ephemeral things that can't be pinned down, caged up, or caught: like nobility, being honest, treating everyone equally, defending the defenseless. It's a sin to kill a Mockingbird; it's a sin to lock up Boo Radley, it's a sin not to defend Tom Robinson
3) The title is very closely related to the whole idea of question number two.

The ladies missionary circle was more of a gossip circle than any thing else .
I do think the mockingbird represents racism .3. the title refers to the law that stated in maycomb county that one who kills a mockingbird would be placed in jail because they were not a nusiance bird but just a song bird . I hope this helps . It has been so long I could not seem to quote the book . good luck and god bless.

The point of the book? The main message I suppose, is to say how racism is a really horrible thing (which you probably already knew). "To Kill A Mockingbird" is a sin, because why would you kill something that has never done anything wrong, that has never done anything to you? That's basically the bottom line of racism. Except, instead of killing, discrimination happens. So basically Harper Lee is saying that you SHOULDN'T "kill" (discriminate against) a mockingbird (someone of a different ethnic race, culture, religion etc). I guess that's the main point. There's so much more, but you kind of have to read the whole thing.

Oh my, i think i can only answer the last question. To Kill A Mockingbird should probably mean to harm one who is innocent. The mocking bird, in Atticus's point of view is the only harmless bird he knows. Technically the white girl in the court rape case 'killed a mockingbird' when she accused the black man(forgot his name) of raping her and he was convicted eventhough people could clearly see that he was innocent or it also means in literal terms to kill a bird...Oh, so in answer to your second question the mockingbird represents another innocent which is Boo Radley, the strangest man in that town who became victim to gossip and speculation due to the fact he lived strangely and in recluse from others and the black man.

The mocking bird was the black man falsy accused of rape that gets murdered.
As for the first quesition well I don't really care. But it is a sad story for someone innocient dies. The children learn of racism in the story and what it's affects can be.
