Abraham Lincoln and the North eventually ended slavey in the US by force. Were the Northerners who ended slavery just better, more moral people than the southerners? Or was it something else?

I'm beginning my course on the merchant of Venice and thought I'd get some incites on a few of the characters before we truly get into it.

What can you tell me about her personality?
What kind of person is she?
I hear that she changes dramatically during the story.

Why? ...
Life as always will fade away
Drifting further everyday
I have lost the will to live
I need the end to set me free
To free myself from this cage
To fly to freedom in the endless sky
To free my heart
To free my soul

If only I could find the answer to
Why?
Why live in torture to have the earth as your bed
Why live in torture if you know your end
Why live in earthly hell if you will live it again
Why live a lie which you have prepared
Why live in hope if there wasn’t any
Why live in solitude with no sombre expressions
Why live if everything is worthless
Why live if everything is pointless
Why live in an illusion
Why live in life’s ugly version
Why live to go through all this
Why live…
Why?

I'm playing Helena in a Midsummer Night's Dream. Do you have any tips to playing the part? And remembering names? I keep calling Lysander Lancaster. >< And I'm always forgetting Demetrius's name.

I've read all the Harry Potters many times. I am a very good reader. I love to read and I will read just about anything.

Is it considered too short?? Or is it reasonable, considering that it is a factual book and not a novel.

Okay, so I'm quite tall for a girl my age (16), I'm 5"9.6', so in a lot of cases I'm taller than the guys I'd be dancing with. Our homecoming is coming up, and all the people at my school do is grind. That's okay with me (although I think I'd like a little more confidence in my abilities...), but so far I've limited myself to dancing with guys who are taller than me--all three of them. This time, I think I'd like to try grinding with a guy shorter than me--I'm just not sure how that'd work.
Any tips?

Before you say don't do it for the money, I'm 12 going on 13 so getting money isn't really a big problem for me. I'm thinking about starting an acting class because I have basically no experiance [just REAL small parts in plays until third grade] and seeing how good I am and if I really like acting, maybe trying out for small roles too [commercails or more likely community plays ] but what else should I do? just that? try acting classes and then work up? I have to get experiance because I'm a little insecure about not being talented enough or having the experiance so..... what should I do?

I absolutely LOVED "Jurassic Park" and "Timeline," which left me with no more fingernails. Even "State of Fear" was a nail-biter, once it got going. I thought "Prey" and "Eaters of the Dead" were a little unusual, although they were well-written. I didn't care much for "The Terminal Man" or "The Andromeda Strain." I'm reading "Sphere" right now, which isn't bad so far. What are YOUR feelings on his books?

It could have avoided the creatiion of soviet union. I know its hard to think about that from todays perspective but........

well. sometimes our priorities do not exactly match our needs .. (ex. before the 9/11, did we pay ammount of attention to the problem of terrorism that it needed ? do we now ? yea. we do )
