American History as taught in the schools is mostly myth.
There was a book I read and had on the facts of history and wow they were sure different. Like only 15% of the people in the colonies supported the revolution. Only 3 people were killed in the Boston massacre.
Most of history is told by the winner. Everyone else comes in second.

Ever since I lived in other countries as a high school student I learned to look at history through other eyes than my own country. Reading other countries newspapers helps too.

It was quite a shock to see some grand part of my proud history being pooh poohed by another country who gave it another explanation or just ignored it because it hadn't been that great to them and had had no impact on their country. And quite an eye opener.

I try to find as many perspectives as possible. Just because they differ in some respects doesn't make one more reliable than another.

I look at the other. I look at the world. I learn from the past history and know that only love can conquer anything in this world love for our fellow beings and doing good.

You'd be foolish not to ask questions. Never believe what you hear and half of what you see....is a good rule of thumb
