It could have avoided the creatiion of soviet union. I know its hard to think about that from todays perspective but........

well. sometimes our priorities do not exactly match our needs .. (ex. before the 9/11, did we pay ammount of attention to the problem of terrorism that it needed ? do we now ? yea. we do )

The usual. Eating coca cola and drinking hamburgers.
TV did not exist yet, otherwise they would have been doing that too.
The USA do nothing while its enemies are creating their weapons. Look Pearl Harbor. They received many warnings, but paid no attention.
They have had fidel kastro at 90 miles south of their borders, and they did nothing either, while fidel seized Nicaragua, was friends with Jamaica ( Michael Manley ), Grenada ( very close to South America ), Angola, Chile ( Salvador Allende ).
In Cuba, in the 1980s, the slogan was that El Salvador would fall into fidel's clutches. I think they call that the "domino's theory"
If Mikhail Gorbachov had not weakened ( involuntarily of course ) the soviet union, fidel would be at the moment knocking on the White House to tell the president to go away, because he was taking over

We at that time were still in the roaring twenties and partying hard after winning WWI and then came prohibition. at the time the fall of the Czar was not considered a bad thing and no one at first had any idea that Lenin and especially Stalin would be a ruthless dictator.

So no I do not think the USA could have done much at the time, we will still re cooping from the first war and now had a war on Alcohol and mobsters. We wanted to be isolated from world problems again. It was not till WWII that we stopped our policy of Isolationism. So that is why it would have made no difference, US policy was one of isolation.

(Actually lisiot I have traveled all over the world and the one thing i learned is that he who carries the biggest stick makes the rules and that happens to be the USA now and not the UK that ONCE ruled the waters and had a glorious Empire. Now you have to play second to the USA and I know in the UK mind that is hard to swallow, if roles were reversed I'm sure Id feel the same, you have to understand, our GOVERNMENT does not THINK it dictates world policies IT DOES. It has even taken many of our own personal freedoms away from its own citizens since 9-11, so no it is not YANKS that want to run world politics it is the GOVERNMENT that does. most of us would rather just be left alone to live our lives our own way in peace. we love out country but we do not always love our government. so try to remember that when you say all you yanks, cause i know many a Scotsman and Irishman or South African, Australians that resent the UK and its empire. I don't and neither do most Americans from Canada to south America. but i know Australia, Scotland and Ireland have long deep rooted hatred still. So don't be all righteous just because your country is not the policy maker any more, maybe one day you will again, who knows! Just imagine if the Soviets had WON instead!! Think of the alternatives. Ive seen most the word and there is no place like the USA and i LOVE going to Germany every year too and have lived there also, it must be the NATIVE AMERICAN in me, the Cherokee, making me a real native but definitely NOT a yank) I did not however thumb you down nor will I, I do not resort to such things. I only wanted to show you that you are being a bit harsh on an entire country and maybe outta focus more on who is running it and makes the laws. Nazis were horrible, but not all Germans are.

(Oh and I forgot in History the USA did support the Whites very much so in the civil war and sent aide to them several times to try and stop the Reds but the White's lost especially after the Reds executed the former Czar and his family. so we did have SOME minor involvement in it as i am sure did the UK helped the Whites, Churchill HATED the reds even more than the Nazis at first until later in his career.)

I recall a certain Churchill over enthusiastic knowing that Roosevelt had entered the war on the Allies side. He practically begged us to enter the war! We never wanted to be involved and now that we did you all complain, whiny wankers

The Russian revolution really did not involve the conquest of other countries. Really the Russians were too busy fighting amongst themselves. It was a civil war, and it was a time of extreme chaos in Russia.

And since they were not invading their neighbors, why would anyone get involved in a strictly internal affair half way around the world.

Also, don't forget that prior to world war 2, The USA was traditionally isolationist and did not want to be involved in the affairs of the rest of the world.

But let's say for argument's sake that someone had intervened and saved the Czarist regime. It was still and decadent and largely incompetent government and quite likely would not have had the sheer stubborn will to resist the Nazi invasion as long as the Soviets did. So quite likely the Germans would have won, and then turned their full attention back to England. Not a pretty prospect.

Once again you Yanks like to think of yourselves as the "World Police".

I don't see what the Russian wars after the revolution have to do with the USA, or why you think you should have had any right to get involved in foreign affairs that don't concern you. Who says your political ideals are the "right" ones anyway?

Surprising really, as there is plenty of oil in the Ukraine and it seems that's the only reason you lot show any interest in getting involved overseas.

We were taking over the "non-free" countries. Don't fall victim to the propaganda of government sanctioned "history" classes. Read further. Read other books from non-American authors.
