I'm beginning my course on the merchant of Venice and thought I'd get some incites on a few of the characters before we truly get into it.

What can you tell me about her personality?
What kind of person is she?
I hear that she changes dramatically during the story.

She is very smart and very strong. She is determined. She is also very nice. Shakespeare tells you everything you need to know about her in the script. What she says and does and how she does it tell you what you need to know.

Feisty, strong, loyal, intelligent (she's the one who finds a way out of the promise to give Shylock a pound of flesh). Sorry I can't remember much more, but I read it about 8 years ago, but I do recall thinking, wow, what an admirable woman.
