I have over 8 year experience doing public address, college radio, and semi-pro sports.

I will admit I was a bit shaky during the audition, but I was creative too......

Well Michael R, when you're specifically told how to dress and what to do for the audition and you don't do it, yet you get picked above people who do, you're going to feel a little miffed.

It's called human nature.

And watch who you're calling thin-skinned.......

Everyone who ever failed an audition knew that others who made it were not suited and it was not right. What about your broadcast experience and training? Your voice, your ability to read copy? Do you need more experience and training? Maybe just another chance. If you are in a job that requires auditions, you have to be prepared to be rejected because that will happen much more often that your being picked. And your problem may be a result of out "instant gratification" society.

If you are so thin skinned that you are discouraged by one audition, get out of the industry. On a blind level, your odds of getting the role was one in the total number of people who applied. In other words, if there were a total of 100 people there, your probability of getting the job (before anybody speaks) was one percent. That translates to being rejected 99 percent of the time. When "The Sopranos" requested applications for a role that was unformed at the time, over 40,000 applied. The city of Hoboken, NJ had to be sealed off by the police.

As for dressing, you can always tell the winner how to dress afterwards. You cannot always tell him/her how to be presentable or what background information to know for the audition. One is the finishing touches and the other are the basics.
