Ben Franklin's 'Join or Die' cartoon was possibly one of the most influential political cartoons in American history. You probaly know that the cartoon uses a snake to represent the divided colonies, and was meant to encourage the colonies to unite...
However, Ben Franklin omitted one of the thirteen colonies...Do you know which it was, and why he did that?

Thanks in advance 8)

Is the Harry Potter series ever going to be surpassed. After finishing the 7th book I honestly can't imagine an entire planet every opening themselves up to another character like they did Harry Potter.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a top quality stock for printing note cards with my ink jet printer? Plain index stock curls up and doesn't look right anyhow. Cover stock is not much better.

I'm not planning on selling anything, but I like to write notes and cards for various purposes featuring my own or my wife's photography. I would like to be able to give sets as gifts, also. I have seen nice pre-cut notes, but I'd be happier with a full 8½" x 11" sheet of excellent quality note paper.

I've considered cutting out 4" x 5" prints and mounting them on note cards, but that's too much work!

The more specific your recommendation, the better.

Thanks for your help.

Now he’s got the girl
And I’ve got the pain
He’s got the honey
And I’ve got the rain

He gets kisses
While I get insane
But I got the music
Running round in my brain

Pain inspired to compose
Black and Decker prose
A rose is a rose
But ends in woes

Her voice is gone
Let my heart sing
Of the days of spring
She was everything

Now absence from me
I must drown in the sea
Let the wave cover my agony
My agony

When I rise again
From the depths
From the precepts
I must accept
My all alone steps

And it doesn’t matter
That I shatter the quiet
With a musical riot
Cause deep down inside
I just don’t buy it

Cause he’s got the girl
And I’ve got the pain
He’s got the honey
And I’ve got the rain…

No, it's not another picture! What started out as a simple photo in support of an answer turned into a rather interesting discussion.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnDTSIyhKUEZPXAqlPqcnRDsy6IX?qid=20070808230302AAXPXHF
Is that something we might continue here? Community Guidelines say, "Don't use Yahoo! Answers as a soapbox to vent your frustrations, rant, or otherwise violate the question and answer format. If you prefer to have discussions or chat with others, please use one of Yahoo!'s other community services, such as Yahoo! Groups," so I'm not sure how well they would receive this kind of activity. I mean, technically, this would be a discussion and a forum might be better.

Would you like to share photos for critique and pointers or is that too much like work for those of you who do this for a living? (I know how that can be and that's why I am over here so much and rarely visit the Dental section any more.)

But what do you think?

What is natural and instinctual for humans?

Many of us pair for life and wouldn't want it any other way. While many still have multiple wives or can't stop cheating.

In the animal kingdom, animals seem to be one way or the other. I own bird species from both sides. The species that pair for life, I have NEVER seen them 'cheat'. They are always with the same partner until one of them dies.

Is there naturally one way or the other for humans? Is it because we have a choice and are more intelligent that we go both ways?
Is having one partner for life unnatural to us? Or is that how it's really meant to be?

I am a guy and I need to get some basic stage makeup for a show that I am in

I've done productions before so I know what I need (basically just some foundation and maybe rouge) but I don't know where, how to choose, or what types to specifically buy

I've never had to buy my own makeup before and am a bit confused, any help would be greatly appreciated-thanks!

I dont really get it.But i think it means life changes dramatically?it means more than that.I dont know the author I just read it in a book called 'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower'.i think I read it's also akid's suicide note.

Once on a yellow piece of paper with green lines
He wrote a poem
And he called it "Chops"
because that was the name of his dog
And that's what it was also all about
And the teacher gave him an A
and a gold star
And his mother hung it on the kitchen door
and read it to his aunts
That was the year father Tracy
took all the kids to the zoo
And he let them sing on the bus
And his little sister was born
with tiny toenails and no hair
And his mother and father kissed a lot
And the girl around the corner sent him a
Valentine signed with a row of X's
and he had to ask his father what the X's meant
And his father always tuck him to bed at night
And was always there to do it

Once on a piece of white paper with blue lines
he wrote a poem
And he called it "Autumn"

What mountain is higher than loneliness
And what valley is lower than despair
For my heart is torn in the wake of apathy
And I long for a life to share

The light stays dim behind my shades
And all the shadows glow
My voice echoes off the wall
With words that I don’t know

An orange beam filters in
Unwelcome guest in my room
What right the sun to be so bright
When I am filled with deadly gloom

My heart beats irregular
And my thoughts have no pattern
And I hear the wicked laughter
Because the ravens are a-gathering

My soul is on the wire
This might be the end
All the darkness, all the pain
Just cause I have no friend

So if you see me on the outside
Just smile and nod your head
And know that I’m still living
And not yet the living dead

How do you call a person who designs houses and..? (please read)?

Make blueprints of new homes for home builders that way they just build everything where the architect tells them to.

I want to know what do you have to study in order to become that.

The original pilgrims. The colonist even before the revolutionary war? My family tree dates back to the 1600's here in the US that was before it was a country! Europe must have been bad at the time, what are some of the contributing factors? Was it cruel treatment of it's people, the never ending empires? What were the real O.G's looking for when they settled here on this fine continent? I'm sure it wasn't money originally. But then it turned to slavery which made the U.S the richest country in the world. A dark spot on our history. Do you really think Christopher Columbus wanted to build an empire? Or was the course of this country changed over and over until what we have today? I just hope the U.S.A doesn't turn into the historical Europe that once ruled it's people with an Iron fist. Which brings me to my next question. Should we strive for freedom, or for domination and perfection? Is that the real American way?

The Bible's many stories are reminiscent, in a sense, of a good children's book. Through characters and plot, they teach important lessons - be kind, don't kill, don't steal, and many more elaborate ones. Arguments have been made in support of the Bible's metaphorical nature; others maintain it spells the literal truth.

I realize this is a loaded question, one that's likely to "stir the pot". My intent is to, fairly, collect various points of view. But it's also more than that. We all have unfounded points of view that are based on the opinions of those around us, various dogmas, a strong desire for things to be a certain way - or even based on nothing at all.

So, it's important to base our points of view on a well grounded argument, and this is the second part to my question. Can you provide a good argument, based not on "so-and-so said", or personal belief, or desire - but evidence, be it physical, historical, or other? Can you show that your argument stands on its own?
