Is the Harry Potter series ever going to be surpassed. After finishing the 7th book I honestly can't imagine an entire planet every opening themselves up to another character like they did Harry Potter.

It has been a wonderful magic carpet ride, hasn't it? But, because I've lived like five times longer than you have, I can say with certainty that there will be such wonderment from new artists again. That's a great thought, you know, that art will continue to amaze us forever. For example, I did not think there could ever be another tenor like Caruso. Then, came Pavarotti. Then, I thought as he retired, oh no, will we ever have such an extraordinary voice again in my lifetime . . and then Potts opened his mouth this year. Life is most sweet like that. Who knows. Maybe YOU will be the author of my favorite series of books someday.

I find it hard to believe that anything will ever come to be like the Harry Potter series. To me, some of these books were the first that many of my friends had ever really read without being forced and continued to read and enjoy and look forward to. It seems like the whole world has come together over a book series that has even gone as far as shaping new perspectives in the way people think. If anyone can somehow manage to get us as opened up to a new world and new characters as JK Rowling did, I would be very surprised. She has created the newest classic that I think will definitely stand in a class of it's own for a very long time.

Um - what? I think you are not giving many many better writers any credit. Better book are to come. Also, other works have surpassed HP work already. It hasn't even passed the Star Wars books Yet.

Here's how it stacks up:

Perry Rhodan various authors 1 billion copies sold
Quotations from Chairman Mao 900 million
Star Wars various authors 750 million
Harry Potter J. K. Rowling 408 million

The Kiki Strike series by Kirsten Miller could catch the Harry Potter craze and maybe even surpass it. Read it and you'll love it.

Popularity and quality are different. HP will be surpassed, but it may not be superseded.
