I've seen all the films and have read No 5 and 6 & I've just started The Philospher's Stone which seems much more "babyish" and aimed primarily for kids (as she originally intended) compared to the later books.

If my 10yo picked up one of her later books I know he'd put it down because he just wouldn't understand it. There was a definite increase in difficulty and I just wondered do you think it was intentional on her part as her readers "grew up with HP" and thus her language changed?

all he does is 'expelliarmus', patronuses and other immature spells he learnt in his first few years. He uses some new ones in the final book but in his previous encounters with voldy he is very weak with a wand. He's over rated. Hermione is the talented one but yet no one goes on and on about her do they?

If you were beginning a novel (fiction) that you wanted the world to remember as your greatest life work what would be the first line.

I am not looking for help on my own story I am just curious how creative we can get.

Also, if you have a favorite opening line form a published book let me know what it is…

I'm writing a story, in which one of my characters needs a painfully boring name, other than Mary (I've gotten that one for an answer a lot XD)

As previously stated, she's a girl. Any suggestions?

Was anyone else or is it just me. Personally I thought the ending was crap. A pathetic and lazy ending to a battle which has been anticipated for 10 years!!! Voldemort's wand kills him. God, how stupid!!

Let's say i write a book in which I say i am the king of the United States, a rank that does not exist and obviously i am not. Also, let's say that smthg happen and all human die and the only thing left is my note. The next generation that'll come and find my book will really think that i was a KING, therefore changing the course of history!

How can we be sure that we haven't been a victim of this?

Thanks to your advice, I did purchase brand new Mary Jane's from Aris Allen. Looking at the suede soles, I started thinking about walking on the street... aack! Is it normal to carry dancing shoes into a club and change inside? Or is the suede tougher than it looks, able to endure pavement outside? Thx.

Well, what is it? You come out your moms tummy, you mature and go to school everyday, you learn new things, and then you go to college, learn more things, and soon get a job. But, it seems all you do your whole life is just work and help people a little! And sooner or later you die. Thats just sad! Well, at least I thank God for giving me one!

I am currently picking some artwork for 3 rooms in my house- I don't want a "collection" (i.e. all da Vinci or Escher) So, I thought maybe my only somewhat knowledge of "fine art" is hindering my search (All I've decided on right now is Munch's The Scream, but I really like most of John William Waterhouse also) Thanks for suggestons :)

1.Why did the US government ban the production of all new cars in the January 1942? Why is the speed limit set at 35 miles per hour?
2.After Japan took possession of the islands of the East Indies, the US could obtain only about 8% of the natural rubber that it needed. If you were in Congress, what laws would you past to be certain to have enough rubber for your war industry and still be fair to the country's citizens?
