I agree with Snape (and also with Harry himself when he was teaching the D.A) His ability to survive was mostly based on his more talented freinds and pure luck. Snape also said, upon seeing Harry's patronus ward of 100 or so dementors that he must have been a very powerful wizard. again, i agree.
I think harry can do things when he tries but he doesnt try that often.

It's because he is the 'boy who lived' the story's about him.
Hermione knew a lot about being a witch/wizard when she started Hogwarts than Harry did. He didn't even find out he was one until a few days earlier. It's no wonder he's reluctant to use some of the more powerful spells is it.
At least he comes through in the end. Good wins over bad. It's a child's story meant for children, happily ever after and all that.

Hermione is certainly more talented than Harry, but that doesn't make Harry a 'crap' wizard in ANY sense. Remember than Harry could produce a corporeal Patronus right from his third year, while Hermione still had problems with it in the seventh year. Harry has a better presence of mind than Hermione (who usually collapses or falters) and that gives him the edge in a tough situation.

Have you read the book? Harry faced up to Voldemort and prepared to die.
I would say he was a very brave wizard together with Hermione and Ron.
Dumbledore knew Hermione was talented.
In the end they needed each other to succeed.

have you read the books, idiot. throughout EVERY book they talk about how he is a mediocre wizard. However a patronus is very advanced magic, and Harry is actually very good at Deffense against the Dark Arts. And he is the best Flier in the school.
You basically didn't ask an intelligent question, nor did it have any merit. if you read the books you wouldn't have asked it. oh and the books always talk about how Hermione is the best wizard in her class, but once again if you read the books you would know that, and if you have read the books than truly your an idiot....

lol .well spotted!it does seem to be a convention in novels that the main "good" character is always fairly unremarkable even non-descript i.e. Harry Potter,Oliver Twist, etc.Possibly his essential ordinariness makes him more like the reader so that the reader identifies with the character, and buys the next book.I have wondered myself why his more talented and interesting friends and enemies don't just ignore him.

I've noticed that most of the wizards, save Dumbledore and Hermione, seem to be crap, lol. They get in these situations and I'm thinking, "Just stupefy him you nimrods!" I think the point is not that Harry is a great wizard. He's average. The point is that he is a great person, and that is why he can overcome evil.

Yah, I agree. Harry Potter grew to become into good basically while the infants have been youthful and cute. As they become previous, this is not any longer as plenty exciting, because of the fact each and every thing gets too dang intense. i found that Rowling have been given way too intense in her books. so as Harry gets older, gets greater mature, closer to being an grownup, then he's have been given to handle grownup subject concerns of Voldemort having the flexibility to actual kill him. So then Harry has to earnings to kill Voldemort. no longer as exciting as while getting grew to become right into a a million/2-toad or some thing like that. there is soooooo plenty stuff in the later books, that this is tricky to place all of it into the videos. This recent action picture (5) is tremendously much a 'bridge-between', because of the fact this is have been given to get you to a greater robust action picture while issues get grittier and with any luck greater stuff in it. There are some good areas in #5, yet i think of the infants turning out to be up is making it greater stable to proceed to be charmed with the help of the full storyline. I applaud the infants turning out to be up, yet I do prefer for the days while they have been youthful and scamps working around the fort looking out such countless wizardy issues. the solid previous days. one ingredient i actual am worried approximately in the very final action picture. In final e book, Harry and different 2 are caught of their hidden tent for months. i actual, particularly wish they alter that area. i grew to become into particularly bored and that grew to become into wasted pages that would have been better spent on better plot or a minimum of lowering on the thickness of the e book!!

I think you should blame the writer and not the character. Also, I imagine how difficult it will be to make an action sequence with wands. In action movies you can kick, punch, shoot, etc. but in Harry Potter there's nothing more that to move a wand. I think the author should have Harry make magic from his own and without a wand, that will be more exciting for me.

Expelliarmus has saved his @ss plenty of times, too. Even in the last book, when managed to use it to get the Elder Wand.
Just because he uses simple spells doesn't mean he's a 'crap wizard' as you put it.
