i just cant focus and the stories never "come alive". i get really bored easily; i end up not following the story. i sometimes read a page or two then stop to think about what i just read and have no clue. so i reread it, and yet again dont follow. so i end up rereading the same page a few times before becoming frustrated with it and giving up.

has anyone else been through this problem?
any ideas how to get that desire to read?

thank you for your time

I really dont see too much purpose in life, its just so simple. Life is absolutely pointless, yet people still wander around looking for false hope. I dont understand, then again, I am stoned off my ***. : )

My grandfather died about a year back, and since then things have been falling apart in my life. grades have slipped, girlfriend's have come and gone; overall things havent been great. Next year i plan on going to college, you know, starting fresh. Although this is a new start for me, i want to get a tatoo in remberance of all the things i have learned from my grandpa and from life. He lived on a lake in northern Wisconsin, and was also a Marine in Vietnam. He was probably someone i look up to more than anyone. He told me to "rise and shine", meaning that i should take every day as a new beginning (rise) and should make the most of it (shine). i want to incorperate this line of "rise and shine" to be the theme/focus of the tatoo, and also want to have some sort of literal sun rise, maybe including the lake house that he lived at. This will be a back piece so there is plenty of room. Any ideas? By the way i dont need anti tatoo comments, it's a choice i already made.

Thanks!

Not roses, daisies, daffodills. Really exotic and colorful pretty ones. I don't want the same thing everyone else has. My granny was a unique and beautiful woman.

Dying within myself
this weakness taking over me
my strength leaving
this sickness overcoming
taking over me
taking the breathe from me
wondering how to overcome it
lungs feeling shallow
no grip, weakness in my legs
I’ve been attacked
emotionally I am frail
laying upon this floor
as I creep towards the door
maybe this is just a dream
but I swore I heard me scream
finding me on the floor
crumbled up like ashes
theirs so many things
I feel I can live for
if only I can get up off this floor

I can't believe that it's a true story. What the hell were these people thinking? I mean the mob that has taken part in the lynching.

Mine would be either to fly or to heal others. First one feels kinda selfish, latter one feels selfless.

In the end I would choose to be able to heal others, and travel to different hospitals the world over.

Its untitled as of now, but I would like suggestions for titles, as well as any other suggestions anyone might have, as well as critiques and such. An idea for the ending would be nice too.

Finishing last in a race
I should never lose
Meaningless, hopeless,
And very confused,

Alone at the ending
With everyone staring
The whole world’s watching
Without one of them caring;

My disheartened heart
Is bleak, and inept,
Doomed for a failure
Because vows aren’t kept.

The future’s not promising,
And not even near.
This attempt is futile,
Hollow, and maybe a little insincere.

Sulking in stale sorrow
A little musty, and decayed
My excuses are worn out
And will soon become clichéd.

Does anyone know the work of the poetry writer Jimmy Santiago Baca? If so hopefully you can help me. I am looking for a certain poem from this writer I don't know the name of it nor do I know in what book I can find it. He talks about how boys should not or rather don't cry. ( I always thought it was called boys don't cry but I can't find it under that name anywhere) Does that sound familiar to anyone if so please let me know I have been looking for this poem like crazy because I heard it once years ago and fell in love with it but I need the name. Please help if you can. Thank you!

If Nature and God are both amazing and unique lifegiving entities, what should I devote my energies to? And don't tell me "both" - pick one and give me the rational, logical pragmatic explantion. Thanks.

i have read alot on it but this is what it seems like it concludes:

you CAN show reality is actualy there and other minds exist through analogy, logic, and the philosophy of language. but we can never prove that its there on the grounds of emperical evidence.

and can never truly know its nature whatsoever because we are trapped within our subjectivity. we can never determin its objectivity because we all experience it through our individual perceptions

am i right?

Basically the quote it talking about The Enlightenment or human progress and how humans now only have their mind and reason to work with, not religion or superstition, and how scary it is that there is no objectivity anymore. From what I can remember the author uses the word "terrifying" to describe his feelings. Anyone know the author and/or quote? Or even a possible author?
