I think you have ALWAYS existed in one form or another and always will. We humans are forms of energy. Energy never dies it simply transforms.
For example. Lets say 15 seperate forms of energy have combined to make Victor. Before victor was born the 15 seperate forms of energy still exited they simply didn`t combine to make Victor. After Victor dies the 15 seperate forms of energy, Transforms into other forms or to another state of energy.

You have hit the nail on the head with this question! Great . First step into the Self Enquiry.
Look at the animals. None of them , ever, ask this question. They go through their lives like a clockwork. be born. Live . Eat. Procreate. Die. Only humans have that questioning power , the whys and the whats and the hows.
Why am I hungry, or thristy? You donot seek the answer. You simply say that for life sustenance. For living. Then you elevate yourself to the other question why living. The purpose is besides ... rather beyond living , eating , procreating and dying. If so what is it? This is called enquiry. Self enquiry.
Don`t despair. You are right on the track. If one knows what one is looking for one will find out. You know it NOW. you will find it. Forget about "people" wandering around ..... Concehtrate on you only. The others will aslo come to that point sooner or later.

I hope when you sober, you won't feel so sad. Life is full of possibilities, in which living is a prerequisite .
Spend a few minutes thinking about 10 things you'd like to do while you're alive, then weed it down to two. Later, make a mini goals list that would help you, eventually, meet that goal. Perhaps you want to go to Hawaii but don't have the money. You'd figure out how much you'd save up the money, get over the fear of flying (just an example!), who would go with you, etc.
You do NOT want to be 90 years old and realize that all you ever did was sleep and miss out on all the wonderful joys this world has to offer, and you were too busy only wishing.
Good luck!

Nobody can say for certain...The only way we can find out is if we were yanked out of the equation and to somehow become the observer of the entire universe. We can not assume that there is purpose in existance just because we exist. The act of existing tells us nothing. If you solely think that the universe in whole was created for us humans, then you'd come up with an "easy-to-digest" answer, whether based on "your" specific religion or science...we still wouldn't be able to know because that answer is still a man-made creation. You would have to see the effect on the whole universe to truly know the answer. There could be another planet with a civilization of its own, with a religion of its own, on the opposite side thinking the same thing, just because their sense of solitary existance has steered them into thinking that their existance is the only thing keeping the cosmic clockwork of the universe running smoothly.

Yes we need to exist. Each of us has a purpose. Your life is valuable even if you are too stoned to see it, my friend!
Make the most of your life. It is a gift. What do you enjoy? Live with passion!
You can live with real hope. It's up to you. Choose to be happy & then act accordingly.
Right now you're choosing to be negative & unhappy. The drugs don't work, they just make you worse (that's a cool song too by the way by Verve I think.)
Anyway take (better) care of yourself, man. Life is what you make it. So make it good.
Cheers.

this is a great question. as an absurdest i agree that life is pointless. acceptance seems to be our only way of dealing with our less than extraordinary existence.
but do we need to exist? this raises so many questions and the biggest question (to me) is if we are existing for god than what does he need us for?

You need to exist in order to need. If you don't exist you can't need anything. So, you're not missing anything if you don't exist, because you can't be there to suffer your own non-existence. So you don't NEED to exist, but I would never say that life is pointless or simple. It's too much fun to not exist.

it is up to you whether you have purpose or not.
You make it worthwhile or you make it nothing..
Being stoned is killing your brain cells.
Time for you to find a reason to live
