Delhi meri jaan,
U r India ki shaan.
Yahan pe paida hue hain,
Kai log mahaan.
Every day foreigners come here,
Utha kar apna saamaan.
Delhi meri jaan.........
Delhi meri jaan!!!!

THE WALLED CITY: 7 POEMS ON DELHI
1
From tomb to tomb,
I chew the ash of prayers.
Won’t poetry happen to me?
Caught in the lanes of history,
don’t I qualify now?
I have even seen Allah in rags
extend the earth like a begging bowl.
2
The Two-Nation Theory is dead
But the old don’t forget.
In this city of refugees,
trains move like ghosts.
The old don’t forget.
My friend’s grandfather,
hoarder of regrets,
cautions: Those Muslim butchers:
Be careful, they stab you in the back.
I lost my beloved Lahore.
My friend and I are rather simple:
We never saw the continent divide.

Here is a poem which narrates something for dehli sarkar...
O raahi dilli jaana to kahanaa apni sarkar se,
Charkha chalta hai hathon se, shaasan chalta talwar se.
Tum chaawal bhijwa dete ho, yoon pyar purana jatlaa kar,
Ve prapti soochna dete hai, seema par goli barsaa kar,
Vaktavya likho yaa virodh karo, yeh bhi kagaz, veh bhe kagaz,
Kab naav rashtra kee paar huee, is kagaz kee patwaar se,
O rahi dilli jaana to kahana apni sarkar se,
Charkha Chalta hai hathon se, shasan chalta talwar se.

Delhi, Delhi,
Are you old or new?
Delhi, Delhi,
No matter, I love you.
