Creative help.?

Question

My grandfather died about a year back, and since then things have been falling apart in my life. grades have slipped, girlfriend's have come and gone; overall things havent been great. Next year i plan on going to college, you know, starting fresh. Although this is a new start for me, i want to get a tatoo in remberance of all the things i have learned from my grandpa and from life. He lived on a lake in northern Wisconsin, and was also a Marine in Vietnam. He was probably someone i look up to more than anyone. He told me to "rise and shine", meaning that i should take every day as a new beginning (rise) and should make the most of it (shine). i want to incorperate this line of "rise and shine" to be the theme/focus of the tatoo, and also want to have some sort of literal sun rise, maybe including the lake house that he lived at. This will be a back piece so there is plenty of room. Any ideas? By the way i dont need anti tatoo comments, it's a choice i already made.

I think you did an excellent job of describing it yourself! peter B summed it up, so just start talking to tattoo artists to see who can draw up the final piece for you. I think you also have the elements of a beautiful painting that could expand your memories even further.
Trivia: memorial tattoos are the biggest group of tattoo types. I think this tattoo may just be a springboard for your healing. My condolences.
