If God is omnipotent, then he doesn't need anything from us.
If God is benevolent, he'd want us to spend our time helping others rather than praying to him.

So then why would a good atheist go to hell and a bad theist go to heaven?

ok i know that sounds extremely trivial and pathetic but i'm thinking of taking ballet just as a casual hobbie to straighten my posture and get a elongated, graceful neck line not to mention grace in general cos i'm such a klutz. but my friend who's done it for 6 yrs told me ballet gives you really thick legs(and she kinda does)...and i already have rather thick legs.. oh and plz don't take me disrespectful for people who are actually serious about ballet and i know it's a very hard, disciplined dance. but i'm only thinking about taking it as a casual hobby.

I know everyone is the hero of their own story, so it wouldn't shock me if kids in those countries are taught a very different version of history than Americans are. It may even be that our version isn't 100% correct either (blasphemy!). But I'd like to get the perspective of those outside America.

I have been painting a long time and am very secure in my ability to create what I consider art with it’s own original feel to it. But recently I bought a good digital camera and started taking what I hope will be considered artsy-fartsy photographs.

The problem is good photography is in a league of it’s own.

So, the question is: Do these photographs suck or do I have any potential as a serious photographer?

No, I don’t expect to reach the heights of Man Ray or Ansel Adams. But I am curious about what you think here. So be totally honest.

What does this statement mean? How would you explain it to someone .... I don't get some of the vocab in it?

1. “The white man… unreservedly committed to the cause of liberating the black man in American society rather than integrating the black man into society.”

2. “He contended that if the leaders of the established civil rights organizations persisted, the social struggle would end in the bloodshed because he was certain the white man would never concede full integration.”
He believed that the theories of passive resistance used by Ghandi and Martin Luther King were exhausted and advocated civil and equal rights by any means necessary to accomplish equality.

I still don't get how he was different from MLK and Ghandi?

What kind of occupation do you like the heroes of a novel to have? There's the sport celebrities (football stars--like in the books by Susan E. Phillips--, soccer players, tennis...), the underwear/clothe models, actors, hotel owners.... what kind of occupation? Something that gives him time off to spend time at his cottage in the rural side of America.
