What kind of occupation do you like the heroes of a novel to have? There's the sport celebrities (football stars--like in the books by Susan E. Phillips--, soccer players, tennis...), the underwear/clothe models, actors, hotel owners.... what kind of occupation? Something that gives him time off to spend time at his cottage in the rural side of America.

The hotel owner sounds best!!
am entrepreneur of all sorts is appealing, I think, to all women. It shows that not only is he a problem solver, but he is able to make difficult dissensions. Keep calm, handle issues and take charge.
I read alot of great romance books, it is a given that the hero is good looking but the one that the reader falls in love with, has POWER.

No, nothing like underwear models, actors or anything like that. Something manly, a builder that runs his own business, so he can take off time if he wants to, and is doing up his cottage while he stays there on his holiday.
