the most common question here are:

"what is the meaning of life?"
"what is love?"
"god vs. evolution?"

the question commonly asked here complitely lack originality and are constantly asked. but when people ask about Kant, Plato, or any other great philosophy question having to do with the actual subject then that qyuestion rceives the fewest answers. and on top of that alot of people here have no idea what they are talking about. its full of pseodo intellectuals that dont truly understand philosophy that think they are "deep" and wise". but in reality everybosy here just likes to sound smart without actualy checking the validity of there answer. the forum lacks originality, are uncreative, and questions are asked that actualy has to do with a real theory or question in philosophy. do you agree??

The Reform Bill of 1867 granted suffrage to

a working-class men.
b women.
c middle-class men.
d everyone over 30 years old.

Here is an excerpt from my book, it hints the answer indirectly, but im still not sure if its A.

" Parliament finally passed the Great Reform Act in 1832. It redistributed seats in the House of Commons, giving representation to large towns and cities and eliminating rotten boroughs. It also enlarged the electorate, the body of people allowed to vote, by granting suffrage to more men. The act did, however, keep a property requirement for voting. The Reform Act of 1832 did not bring full democracy, but it did give a greater political voice to middle-class men. Landowning nobles, howver, remained a powerful force in the government and in the economy.

Anyway, I just want your peoples' opinions

Most 21st readers seem to hate her because of her strong morals and 'boring' character. When the book was first written, however, Fanny was liked.

This makes me think that modern people are only thinking in 21st century terms and that they don't like Fanny simply because she's old-fashioned, 'boring', and moralistic. Personally, I have always liked Fanny because she shows that true goodness and strong morals are better than superficiality.

Does anyone else agree with me and actually like Fanny Price, who is known to probably be Jane Austen's most disliked character?

Maybe Fanny isn't as exciting or witty as some of Austen's other characters and maybe she may seem a little boring to some readers. But sometimes a character like Fanny can be a breath of fresh air, especially when compared to all the multitudes of witty and more modern female characters that are popular today.

I read it a long time ago and would like to reread it, but for the life of me cannot remember the title. I believe it takes place in the 80's. The main character is a woman who has (apparently) gotten into a car accident in a strange town. She wakes up in the hospital with amnesia and is cared for by the doctors and nurses. She begins to suspect something is wrong and as it turns out, she's not in the U.S. anymore, but in Russia (I think?). She works for this top secret company who has (for lack of a better word) programmed her to get amnesia if anyone tried to torture information about the company out of her. The book is very Nelson Demille-ish, but it's not by him. Can anyone help me?

I am baffled, and hope there is a genetics guru here to help. My 5-month old newphew has stunning bright blue eyes, yet neither his mother, father, either grandfather, and either grandmother have blue eyes. My mom and dad both have dark brown eyes, and his paternal grandparents also have almost reddish brown eyes. Is is true that babies can be born with blue eyes and then the eye pigment changes colors?
Thanks to anyone who can explain this to me. I have studied canine genetics yet I cannot draw a conclusion for this beautiful baby humans eyes.

Isn’t the notion of God being perfect and absolutely just, (as in behaving/deciding), in every situation, basically a rationalization for us and an attempt to placate God, fearing the repercussion(s) if we disagree?

Isn’t the only reason we say that God is Perfect due to the belief that God created us and therefore gets to make the rules? The rule makers’ decisions need not be explained, understandable, logical, or seemingly fair to the ruled.

And then, fearing punishment if not sufficiently credulous, the ruled rationalize that even the most absurd, cruel, and unjust rules are perfectly acceptable, they are simply too ignorant to understand why it’s really a good rule.

I am a philosopher, a nihilist of sorts, and I have studied, at great length mind you, the idea and subjectivity of morality. I have seen, personally, nothing more useless and futile than morality. I personally do not hold any morals. Yes, I can see the logic behind, "it is bad to kill people" but we still send the good-ol'-boys over to Iraq to kill anyways so you can see the major contradictions here. I have seen, in my observations, that every human being, when faced with enough difficulties and enough pressure, will contradict their own morality. Thus rendering it not only a farce, but a dangerous one at that. What is the use of you people and your morals if you aren't really going to stick to them? Every moral, at its core, is only an opinion of right and wrong. Opinions are not reality. In reality something is only "wrong" if you say it is, and even then it still isn't, you're just delusional. So please, lend me your thoughts on the matter, and be as mean as you like

I'm looking for something smooth-writing, fine-point, and not reallly gelly. I'm left handed, so whatever I write I sometimes smudge with my hand immediately after if it doesn't dry quick enough (like the gel types!). Also, it can't go through the paper.

Looking for very specific names, brands, models.

Thanks. :)
