Ok. So, in my English III Enrichment class were suppose to be reading a book. Soon, (tomorrow) we're going to the library to prepare for our research papers. Let me give you an example of what we're suppose to do:

For example, my friend is reading a book about Frederick Douglass (a Slave). She has to write a paper about something that she can incorporate the book in. So, she's writting about either Discrimination or about The Causes of The Civil War - And, in her essay she will incorporate her book a little.

I need suggestions about:

1. I'm reading In Cold Blood, what topics should I write my paper about? (Specifics please, I'm looking for something that will have a lot of information about, or something very interesting ... I'm only on chapter two and I will read a 100 pages today for my Eng. class tomorrow.

2. How the hell do you pronounce his last name "Capote"? (Stupid question, I guess).

.... Thanks!

Is there a reason that we meet certain people in life. I mean why is it that today we will post a question and find that someone might post an answer and it touches your soul in a certain way and you begin a friendship with them? Does that mean that it was "meant to happen that way"?

First question:
During my research for one of my papers, I came across a statement that I didn't understand. According to the author of an online guide entitled "Agnosticism / Atheism" by Austin Cline, Roth VersusUnited States "specifically rejected the test developed in the British case Regina v. Hicklin" Why was this case tried in the American legal system and not the England one?
Second question:
It is my understanding that previous cases decleared obsenity not one of the rights of speech. In Roth versus United states, Justice Clark said that such a case as was argued by Roth would not be opened with out the consent of the Supreme Court due to previous rulings and strong evodence of
constitutionality. Could one assume based on evidence that the Supreme Court decleared obsenity not one of the previsions allotted in the first amendment therefore upholding that the statute is constitutional, the supreme court decided to reconsider the case?

Okay, I buy books a lot. I love books and can't stand when I get an Oprah's Book Club or Heather's Picks sticker on my books! Sometimes it isn't even a sticker...it is part of the cover! I hate this! It really drives me crazy. Don't get me wrong..I am glad both Oprah and Heather read and I don't have anything against them, but it really irks me that I can't buy a book anymore with the original cover. I can make up my own mind on whether I want to purchase a book, thank you very much! Most of the time, I purchase a book after reading it so I really don't require anyone else's opinion. Does this bug anyone else too?

My family name is Lippens. There is debate over whether we are Dutch heritage or Belgian heritage. My father was born in Indonesia while there were still Dutch colonies there. After the white people started getting killed there, they fled with the rest of the Dutch colony to the Netherlands and other parts of the world. So I have always thought we are Dutch. But Lippens does not sound very Dutch! It sounds more French - which is half the population of Belgium - and the sheer number of people with the last name Lippens in Belgium totally outnumbers those with the Lippens name in the Netherlands. My grandparents are dead and my father doesn't know his own history. Help?

do we even think of killing ourselves. If we are so simple as just bodies why do we even get a thought of killing our bodies? When we say kill ourSELVES who is that we are trying to kill. In fact WHO is suggesting u to kill ur own SELF? Is it ur body? Is it your brain? Brain is just like a computer and nothing else? Doesn't that prove existence of things other body with in us? When U say to urself I want to walk don't we realiaze there is a different character there other than our body whom WE are COMMANDING to walk? If we say that it is our mind that decides every thing. What is mind then. Medical science in the first step doesn't accept anything that is not visible including mind. Doesn't that prove we are souls. Atleast it proves we are not bodies. Then why are scientists trying to deny the soul so easily?
