You two are cool...I am facinated by the castles they built , and their accents make them sound smarter...and the women sexier.

Somewhere in the region of 1,700 to 2,100 years... It was settled by the Romans and called Londonium, on a campaign led by Julius Caesar himself, the Romans occupied Britain for a few hundred years before the empire fell into disarray so it doesn't have as much Roman influence as other parts of the former empire but there are still some lasting examples... Eg: Hadrian's Wall in Scotland But think about it, there were prehistoric, Neolithic cave men living there thousands of years BEFORE that, the ones that build Stone Henge and such... So there may have easily been a settlement in the metropolitan London area before the Romans, but of course this was not a true "civilisation", nor would it have been called London or anything close to it but nevertheless I'm sure the area surrounding London was Ancient land even to the Romans..

Not boring - although there's much more to it than the largely fictional speculation about Sweeney Todd & Jack the Ripper.
Go to the Museum of London at the Barbican and the Guildhall Art Gallery nearby for a real look at London's history.

Yes, I was born in the East End of London and remember the Blitz as a boy. When I was eight years old I enjoyed looking around London and discovering its history. I discovered a lot of interesting things that have happened over many years, (some probably far-fetched). Eventually, when I started work at 15, I worked on some of the bomb damaged buildings in London and remember the Barbican/Moorgate area as a virtual bomb site. I therefore became interested in the more recent history of London too.

London has a recorded history that goes back over 2,000 years. During this time, it has experienced plague, devastating fire, civil war, aerial bombardment and terrorist attacks, yet, it has still grown to become one of the financial and cultural capitals of the world. See City of London for details on the historic core of London.

I used to live on the South Coast until recently and have never been bored by London or its history. I will never find time to see everything of historical interest as well as visit all the galleries and museums. I find it incredible that I have found people here in the East Midlands who have never even been to London, let alone know anything of its history!

Well, I don't live in London, but I'll admit that history has always been a passion with me, so I'd very likely join you and your boyfriend on one of your history crawls if I did.
So many folks seem to think history is nothing but a bunch of boring facts about equally boring events and famous dead people, but I've never felt that way--to me it's all about the ordinary ones like you and me and how they lived in various times.
Boring? Not by a long shot, in my estimation!
