Keep a lookout for juried exhibitions and competitions, nationwide. They are a good way for artists to break in. Also visit a ton of art galleries and figure out which ones your work fits into, and then talk to them about it. And, build a website to show your work and list it on artists' resource pages. Good luck.

Have an art show in your own home or rent a place for the day. Invite everyone that you know and tell them to invite people too.
