Is there a reason that we meet certain people in life. I mean why is it that today we will post a question and find that someone might post an answer and it touches your soul in a certain way and you begin a friendship with them? Does that mean that it was "meant to happen that way"?

I believe everything happens for a reason. I think we are all here to learn something that we can't by ourselves, so we meet people that will help us learn what we are suppose to. Like this answer and question thing, we my learn something, that will help us later in life, or even now. I believe we have to look at every one we meet as an opportunity for something, no matter how small, it may even be a negative situation, or they learn something from us. We are all intertwined...

The greatest danger of words is that you can put them together is such a way that they grammatically are correct but still they are constructed to be utterly meaningless. When we talk about concepts like destiny and "meant to happen that way" we are clearly in that playful area of nonsense. And we often do have to remind ourselves that believing things doesn't make them true.

Hidden in the verbiage is a hint that something or someone is planning things out for us. Yet there is never any proof of that. No verification or even the slimmest evidence that is what is happening.

And the quaint language of "find someone else", which I take to mean forming a relationship that leads to marriage, an affair, and/or mating, indicates that there is a learned attempt to avoid being clear and saying what you mean.

Please make an effort to be up front with meanings, they are so much more useful and intelligent that way. And so much less confusing.

In answer to your question about whether there is a reason, the answer is "Yes, of course, there is a reason. You happen to meet them by coincidence, proximity, and probability. But, no, no one is running a human puppet theater for their or our amusement."

If there was no such a thing as free will, then of course everything that happens is destined to happen. But we will never be sure we don't have free will, and thus must act as if we do - and that would mean we control our own destiny as much as anything else does. Some also believe that even though we have free will, there is a planner out there somewhere that controls certain (if not all) events, such as good fortune. This is a bit hard to swallow on any logical basis.

The most likely explanation for what you have experienced is that coincidence is not as uncommon in random chance events as we might be led to believe, hence we attribute purpose to what is more likely to be pure chance and essentially "the luck of the draw." And we also have learned to react to chance events in such a way as to profit from them by searching other random chance events for the type of coincidence that we otherwise would not have come across - such is the method in which in the end we DO assert control over our "destiny."

I do believe that destiny brings us to find others in our lives, but only in the way that destiny determines all aspects of our lives. To me, destiny is all the things that have led up to each instance in our existence. It is not merely random, because the choices and decisions we make in our lives are not merely random. At the same time, it is not ordained by some guiding power. If we are fortunate enough to connect with someone, then each of us can look back at the choices we made in life that led us to that connection. Because it has turned out to be an especially positive experience, the events leading up to it seem to take on greater importance. However, as far as "destiny" is concerned, it is no more and no less important that we what have for dinner tonight. It is the human need to make sense out of the seemingly fantastic (or horrible) occurrences in our lives that make us feel that some things are more destined than others.

This Universe is a wondrous and magical place.Anything can happen, including Destiny,Fate or the guiding hand of God.
Did Destiny guide me to this very question?
Or was it my own choice or random chance?
I like to think that Destiny does effect us in certain wonderful ways. Why?Because I can see certain things in my life that just can't be explained by random chance.
When it comes to meeting certain people, yes,I believe we were meant to met these people. They are meant to be special in our lives and somehow touch us on a level that no one can really explain.Maybe certain souls are tied together, backwards and forwards in time.

Destiny does not exist, if destiny were to exist can you explain the fact why is it some person's destiny is to die at the age of 1 or 2? Does by what you're saying apply as well to animals, they also meet things in their life. It is all random chance, there are plenty of people in the world that don't find love, and many other things, its not destiny, just random chance

We are constantly changing in life.Who we were last year , last week , or yesterday is not who you are today .Everything influences us including these answers. So is it destiny that brings us together in this sense ?I would say no ..it is merely circumstance. On the other hand when unlikely meetings occur for sometimes a bizarre set of events ; I would vote for Destiny then.

I think so. I think sometimes when something like this happens, you are meant to fill a need or void in each other's lives, each providing something for the other that has been missing.
Destiny is powerful and although, some might question this belief in me because of my Christian background, I do believe in destiny or fate.

Usually it is not a destiny, but bad or not so bad karma...all depend of how you look at it and all of the million options will be true...
