I have been here before
Restless waiting
Broken bruised
My soul escapes
No boundaries
I slip through the night
Aimless wandering
The night is far spent
The day is at hand
The choice is made
I cant go back
Tick tock
Day and night
Oh, the spinning
Hands of time
Loosen the shekels
That tie me down
Free me from this burden now
I need to reach for something real
My soul is numb I need to feel

I've heard that it has to do with a Turkish takover of the island and that the Turkish changed their names to make them feel small since the greek word ending for "small" is "is". Is this true?, and if it is, why haven't the people changed their names since?

Then:
Reformation - Christians fighting Christians
Crusades - Christians figting Muslims
Culture - Caliphate retained classical Greek learning, advances in math and science, art, music, and technology. Europe lived in sh*t, Church kept the masses ignorant.

Now:
Sectarian Violence - Muslims fighting Muslims
War on Terror - Non-Muslims fighting Muslims
Knowledge - Western countries have led the world in math, science, art, music, and technology. Middle Eastern countries have been trying to recuperate from the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

Europe and Christianity made it through their "Middle Ages." Will the Middle East and Islam make it through theirs?

I read this book 30 years ago, and can remember only bits of it--can anyone help me name it? A widowed mother and her children move to the country, to her relative's (uncle's?) dog kennel. They mostly raise cocker spaniels, and one of them, named Penny, is returned back after being abused. I hope someone recognizes this, because I remember really liking the book.

I am a size 13 to 14, depending on the type of shoe, and since dance shoes seem to run small I need to find a place that either sells size 14's or allows you to have a size 14 custom made. Every place that I have looked at so far carries only size 12's and a few places carried a size 13, but that is it. If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.
