Yes, of course you can! There's no reason why you can't be in love with a drug addict. But I don't know how much they're going to love you back.

I have a history of chemical dependancy in my family and I have worked in a chemical dependancy unit before. Of course you can be in love with an addict. They are human beings. Htey have feelings too. They are suffering from a disease, a chemical imbalance in the brain. Alot of people don't understand but it is a disease that will be with them until the day that they die. Even if they become clean, there is always a chance of falling back into old habits. Some people may even be too far gone to help. In that case, and addicts drug of choice will ALWAYS be their priority even if they do not realize it. They end up lying, cheating, and stealing from their own family and even their children it can be really sad. If you love them, you need to get them help. Look into Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. They even have resources for people like you, the "co-dependant." Some times you just need to leave them alone, though. You can get them help but it is up to them to actually use the resources and recommendations given by the treatment facility. Call your ocal hospital if you do not know where to find a drug and/or alcohol rehab. But remember, if you love them, get them help. But it is up pto them NOT YOU to help them selves. Good Luck.

Yes but the person you are spending your time with is more in love with their drug of choice than they ever will be with you. I learned the hard way about this and still carry the emotional scars. Don't be a co-dependent or an enabler. Its not easy, but drop them if they won't drop the drugs.( can't believe that last sentence can from my old hippy self! )

its very true especially if you were by that drug addict before the addiction takes over or if you yourself were an addict at one time. either way, you love and pity the person and hate the addiction.

You can fall in love with anyone. Whether that person is a drug addict or not. Addictions just make it a bit harder to love them, in my opinon, because it's a disease.

the experience of love has nothing to do with class, creed, race or what a person does or what he or she indulges in.
experience of love is precious and it just happens between two people. sometimes it's only one way. be it a a rich person or a poor person, addict or anyone for that matter, it's a feeling that totally changes the personality.

I would guess so. Wit.... that's another entirely different question...
Drugs alter a person ability to relate to "reality" ... so I would think that ultimately, you would be in "love" with "someone" that is entirely different than you would be actually relating to.....
I think you should ask the "experts"....this is an interesting question to say the least....

The only thing you are in love with is the groovy feeling he gives you. What happens when he wants to quit will you love him still when he is in pain and going through all the mental anguish that goes along with it, better to get out while he is still high. think about that.
