How happy is the blameless Vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned

In my 28 years I've only had a handful of people bring up philisophical discussions and when I try and discuss them I usually get laughed at or told I am crazy. Why do most people usually avoid these conversations like the plague? I just want to discuss things other than fashion, sports, music, movies or any other thing I use to temporarily make myself feel better and distract me from the real issues of the world. I see people going around like robots, day in day out doing the same things over and over again not questioning what's happening around us, what's happened before us, or what will happen in our future. What percentage of the population do you think actually thinks "deep" and wants to know more? Do most people have these thoughts but they don't voice them? Are they too scared to think about it? Does living day to day like a robot bring them comfort and distraction? Do they already have answers that satisfy them? Or do most people really not think about it at all?

The power of words: Sometimes I think people are unhappy because they think happiness is a state of mind, not a fleeting emotion. I think content would be a better word to describe a "happy person". What do you think?

I remember seeing something on the discovery channel about the Myan's...and they predicted all these things that ended up happening in the 1900's...long after their civilization was gone. They also had predicted the end of the world to be Dec 23, 2013. Does anyone recall this? Do you have online proof or a website that talks about this more in depth?

I don’t know why people fight for how they think is god…. THINK, Why should the existence of god be as we want, it (he/she) is as it is, may be we could never know how is god, as one of your cells doesn’t feel your feelings. But I also want to think how is god and I like to think that he also evolves and develops as we do.

I know the Vikings reached Newfoundland (Vinland) in 1000 AD but someone told me Blacks reached the Americas before Whites. Is there any proof of this and if so it would obviously have to be older then 1000 AD?

Does anyone have suggestions on how to go about soliciting a publishing firm for a novel I'm writing (non-fiction)? Any particular steps I can take? I'm a lawyer so sending it solicited isn;t so much an issue but rather finding the proper firms and/or people to send it to. Any help is appreciated!

I've just asked about "A Time to Kill" in the movie section, now I'm asking about "The Chamber" because unlike the other, I actually read this one. Once again, I don't understand the very last page of the book... actually the very last 2 lines or so. I remember that the defendant, who lost the case for the Klu Klax Klan member, who also happened to be his real-life grandfather, went to the cemetery after the trial, and then, when he was there, a van or truck was speeding towards him... and the end just hangs like that. I'm sorry I don't have the book with me cos it was part of the Reader's Digest novel compilation, and I've given that book away. Those of you who have read it... please explain that very end of the novel to me because I totally don't get it. Who was driving the van, and is the reader supposed to believe that the lawyer would eventually be killed (it doesn't state this). Thanks in advance.

Some books I understand that they are controvertial but some I just don't get. Sex by Madonna - I get. A Wrinkle in TIme by Madeline Lengle - I don't get. Here is a list of books that were banned in the 90's. I just don't get a lot of them. Flowers for Algernon? James and the Giant Peach? just wondering how they decide.

I'm not happy at this point in my life. I have been really searching myself for over a year for any clue of what I REALLY want to do with my life. I want a new career, but not just one that will bring me back to this same point. But I live in a small town and I'm trying to find something that would fit into my life here without moving my family. I have friends that have found their place and make good money too and although I am glad for them I am so sad b/c I want that for myself! Somebody please help!
