It was written by: Alexander pope... It is an exerpt from a much longer piece called Helouise (Eloisa) To Abelard.

It was Popes take on a true story of French lovers in the form of a student and a preist in the 12th centruy.

It is beautiful isin't is? Gives me chills every time I read it... and I have read it thousands of times... It's not all that long really. Check it out! (I provided you the link directly to the entire piece, below.)

I personally find this part a bit more... Well... interesting?

Alas, how chang'd! what sudden horrors rise!
A naked lover bound and bleeding lies!
Where, where was Eloise? her voice, her hand,
Her poniard, had oppos'd the dire command.
Barbarian, stay! that bloody stroke restrain;
The crime was common, common be the pain.
I can no more; by shame, by rage suppress'd,
Let tears, and burning blushes speak the rest.

It tells of how Abelard was castrated for bedding Helouise when she was promised as chattle to another man by her Uncle who raised her after her fathers death.

Pretty fuc*ked up huh? They kind of bum rushed him and cut off his sack!
