I remember seeing something on the discovery channel about the Myan's...and they predicted all these things that ended up happening in the 1900's...long after their civilization was gone. They also had predicted the end of the world to be Dec 23, 2013. Does anyone recall this? Do you have online proof or a website that talks about this more in depth?

The Myans did beleive that time was cyclical and that the world was destroyed from time-to-time. Their callender only goes as far as 2013 because that's when they thought the next apocalypse would be. I think the important thing to remember is that humans have been (incorrectly) predicting the date of the apocalypse for the last 3,000 years. If a guy stands me up once, I won't expect to have another date with him. The apocalyse has stood humanity up so many times that to expect it now is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

I do remember seeing something like that, except I thought the world was supposed to end in 2012; I'd look at either wikipedia or coasttocoastam for more information (Both are .coms)
