Personally, I think this is the most important philosophical question to ask.

Why are you, "you"? Why weren't you born one of the other countless people on this planet? Did you win the sperm lottery? (Were we the fastest sperm on the block?) Are we the result of a cosmic mistake? A blunder? A happenstance?

When your three year old child looks you in the eye and asks "Daddy, why am I alive?" Should we say, "To change daddy's diapers when I am 80."

If we are the result of a mere accident, a combining of gasses, a cosmic fart.............if you will, then what meaning can be made of a life that was made of meaningless origins?

It was a thin book and I think it came out about 9 or ten years ago. A child, I think a girl, lived in the walls of her house. I wasn't able to decipher then, though it is obvious to me now, that this was pretty much in her mind only. She has a mean mother, possible siblings, and well, she lived in the walls. ANY IDEAS?

First book. There are several characters. It's mainly about a girl called Hero who chooses not to speak to anyone but her brother Alto, loves climbing trees, has a sister called Sapphire who has a weird dictionary, and her mother is an author. Hero also does some gardening jobs for some old woman, and there's a boy called Sam involved in it somewhere. That isn't the main storyline, but it's loosely based around this lot.

Second book. It's sci-fi, involves a star that actually stays on a planet, very few people are allowed to go near it, those that do run the risk of going mad and have to wear protective gear. It either burns out or someone else needs it, I can't remember it exactly, but the star has to be taken away from its current residential position. It follows a boy, and a girl who comes across as being a bit sulky/a boy hater, as they take the star on its journey. I have no idea what it's called or who its by. Please help.

I can't find any summary anywhere! I am reading the book but a set of notes or something would be very helpful. This book is by Henry Fielding, if anyone has a summary could you post it...book by book would be awesome. Thanks!!

i.e. the love you feel for your parents, the love for your kids, and then the love for your spouse....all a different type of love. Now, more than likely you will never stop loving your parents and usually only mental people do not love their kids but a spouse is so easy to fall out of love with sometimes (considering the U.S. has a 51% divorce rate)......why is this?

Sorry, I do not know if this in the correct category...oh well.

i want to act in plays, everyone thinks im a good actress, and my sister was telling me that i should get prrivate singing lessons to help me in theatre, because i dont sing good. my piano teacher told me she would give the names of some voice teachers (ppl who teach you how to sing and use your voice correctly) so i could take lessons. should i take them? or just act in non-musical plays?

Jeremy Paxman got a 2i in literature from Cambridge (didn't he?), and BBC presenters are given pronunciation guidelines. So he must be right. Yet this pronunciation doesn't tally with what we were taught in A level French, and Charlotte did base it on her experiences in Belgium. I did get an E however, perhaps I fell down on pronunciation. PS don't pick on me for not using the umlaut in Bronte, sorry but I never do as everyone knows who you mean anyway.

A fact is based off other facts reinforcing the fact that it is in fact, a fact. But in order for the first fact to be deemed as a fact, the previous facts must also be reinforced. The only way to reinforce a fact, is with other facts.
So when it all boils down to it, there must be a universal fact (or multiple) that cannot be reinforced any further so that means that these facts are in fact, not.
So the things we are told and the things we learn, do they really account for anything? Isn't there this magnificent chance that somewhere down the line a mistake was made? Isn't it possible, or even likely?
Curse at me, degrade me, insult me all you want but at least leave an answer.
Thank you.
