It was a thin book and I think it came out about 9 or ten years ago. A child, I think a girl, lived in the walls of her house. I wasn't able to decipher then, though it is obvious to me now, that this was pretty much in her mind only. She has a mean mother, possible siblings, and well, she lived in the walls. ANY IDEAS?

There is a short story called the Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It's about a lady who is sort of crazy and she thinks she is absorbed by the walls, and she thinks she is in them. Maybe that is what you are looking for.

Maybe Behind the Attic Wall by Sylvia Cassedy? I loved that book growing up. I still have my copy and should re-read it!
