Hey Im organising some activites for children to participate in during the xmas hols, I need some craft activites that they can take part in, some unusual or orignal ones would be really appricated as dont wanna just get the kids to make xmas cards. Im trying to get away from the xmas theme and the activities should last about 10mins without the kids getting bored. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks Oh yeah kids are aged from 2-14yrs!

"The life of every individual, viewed as whole and in general, and when only its most significant features are emphasized, is really a tragedy, but gone through in detail it has the character of a comedy... Thus, as if fate wished to add mockery to the misery of our existence, our life must contain all the woes of tragedy, and yet we cannot even assert the dignity of tragic characters, but, in the broad detail of life, are inevitably the foolish characters of a comedy." -Schopenhauer. Do you think so?

Hi peeps,

Okay, I might sound very shallow to ask this question, but I really want to know you guys' opinions.

Looking of works done by Tracey Emin (eg her unmade bed, the tent, etc) and also Marcel Duchamp's Fountain & Piero Manzoni's Artist Shits; I can't help but wonder.... what does it take to be a, erm, good modern artist? It seems to me that as long as we come up with a very unexpected (read: weird) idea AND dare to make a strong statement as the "concept of the work", we can actually turn practically ANYTHING into artworks.

Is it because we've had enough of visually pleasant artworks (eg Monalisa, etc) that we actually seek to invent more modern, unconventional arts? In this case, is contemporary art *supposed* to be of a 'higher level' than old masters' works?

Any opinion will be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance!

Irony can be found everywhere if your eyes are open to it, but why do we feel the need to embrace it and laugh at it? Or do you feel it annoys you?
