Dozens.

PAF is free, from the Mormon site.

Family Tree Maker is the market leader in the US and some European countries.

Roots Magic is my personal favorite. I tried PAF and FTM both. I'm on my third version of RM, counting Family Origins for Windows 6.0 and 8.0 as the first two. (The wizard in charge of RM changed the name.)

Some comments from the RM web site:

"RootsMagic is arguably the best genealogy program we’ve seen." - Smart Computing Magazine

"My favorite for the best all-around program" - Kimberly Powell, About.com Genealogy Guide

"Editor's Choice" - Heritage Quest Magazine

"The most comprehensive, yet easy to use genealogy software available anywhere." - Bill Dollarhide, Genealogy Bulletin

"RootsMagic earns our highest recommendation." - Family Tree Magazine

"There's no better genealogy package for the money." - PC Format Magazine

"It's still the top of the genealogy tree." - Computer Active Magazine

"All in all, RootsMagic is a winner." - Dick Eastman

"This is the ideal program for recording your family history." - Your Family Tree Magazine

"Highly recommended." - Family History Monthly Magazine

Some from the FTM site:

Family Tree Maker is the #1 selling software product for building, customizing, searching and sharing your family history.

PAF doesn't have comments.

Reunion is the only one that I know in the US that runs on a Mac, but I'm not a Mac user.

There are more in Europe, some in different languages. The Brits and Aussies have some too. Again, I live in the US and use a PC, so my experience is limited.

it is not likely to be as centred as you would be able to wish, yet there are quite a few genealogical DNA classes in place. they're truly greater geared in direction of Asia and Europe via migration monitoring and not very centred in Africa, Australia or the Americas. What they could inform you is that your matrilineal DNA has particular features in difficulty-loose with human beings from a given area, like the Yucatan, and which you have genetic markers consistent with mandatory u . s . of america. yet they could't inform you that your seventh great grandfather replaced into from Peru or that your 5th great grandfather replaced into from Texas. it is decidedly obscure on indigenous peoples.

Yes there are several out there. I prefer genopro gold myself.
The beta version has some really nice features that are very good.
