I have written a book but have no idea as to where to begin regarding having it published. Obviously I do not want to spend a fortune on trying to get it published. Anybody out there have any advice. I really would appreciate it.

Is Intelligent Life all about the interest in the quest for Meaning? If so, why cannot we be happy with the zillions of our already invented (i.e. manmade) Meanings? Is it because the humanity as a whole is in search of that "Ultimate Objective Truth/Purpose" behind it all? Assuming such a state was even attainable AND comprehensible, what if it proved to be absolutely boring to our ever-playful human tastes. What then? Where else do we have to turn to next if "Heaven" proved to be just as boring a punishment as "Hell"? Will it be back to the dynamics of ignorant bliss and apparent confusion? ARE WE ULTIMATELY CREATURES OF "EVOLUTION" AND NOT "DESTINATION"? Is intelligent life all about the journey and NOT any Ultimate Meaning/Truth?

People think of photography as a routine mechanical thing they sometimes do on holiday (or at parties with their mobile phone). This is a real pity. It is a bit like regarding painting as something routine or low level because as an activity it forms part of home decorating, or because the last time you did it you were at primary school!

The range of cheap cameras with brilliant optics, the advent of digital technology, and the wide spread of image manipulation software means that all can cheaply take up the tools and create! That so few, relatively speaking, actually do much more than record they were 'there' at some holiday locale seems to me to be a real pity, and to be a direct consequence of an unwillingness to accept that creativity is not confined to horse-hair brushes and chisels, but flows from the brain and the eye!

This question was especially designed / formulated to fit the overall format of the ones that usually get chosen by Yahoo to be featured on Y!A's front page. So, while answering the question, please make sure to also tell me if you think this one's gonna finally make it to the front page or not? :-) :)

I'm keen to find the orignal source of the quote, and the exact original phrasing. There are a few variations out there, gemlike/gem-like, flame/fire are varied a lot.
Possibly it was translated from latin??
If that was the case I'd be keen to find the latin translation as well.
Thanks.

Okay this is a difficult question to word so stick with me. I have heard it said that a person can know they are sane if they are able to ask themself 'Am I crazy?' because someone who is crazy would never question if they were or not. Now, knowing the logic of that, what if someone who was crazy was privy to the same knowledge?...what if a crazy person said 'Am I crazy...oh wait I can't be if I asked myself that'...right? So using that logic, if you ask yourself that question does it ensure that you're sane, or just prove that you're a smart crazy person?
