Original question:
Can anyone show me some quotes from the administration on conservative Islam's influence on art?
Feel free to prove me wrong, I'd like to see what the current administration has to say about artists who are afraid to offend Islam, and I haven't heard anything. Are they ignoring the issue? Why do the Bush administration and many governments around the world have this "hardline" approach to terrorism, unwilling to negotiate, unwilling to allow terrorist suspects the same rights as other alleged criminals, and unwilling to use anything but hardline military tactics on the grounds that anything less would be "appeasement" but don't ask the people to do the same, asking them not to let them be afraid to exercise their right to express themselves? is this a right they're not interested in, or that they want to be able to take away themselves, or a reflection of their tendency to put the importance of rights as unimportant in comparison to the importance of security?

I have some original bricks from the Indianapolis Speedway. They date back to 1900's. I would like to try to remove all the unwanted debris from them and clean them up for display. They are extremely old and very rare. Any help would be appreciated.

I've heard and read that, at least the Taoists (a.k.a. Daoists) would have it that the answer is, "nothing can hurt you".

Or at least that the implication is that you should live life fearlessly, *as if* you were utterly invincible.

Is this possible? Are we able to *be* invincible, and to live our lives this way? And if so, what are the implications and complications for human society? Or at the very least, the way us puny humans currently live?

Last night, my brother was watching a new series called "Dexter," in which the main character is a serial killer.

When I asked my brother how the protagonist could be a serial killer, he said that Dexter was still a good guy because he only killed bad people, like convicts and rapists.

Is it safe to assume that someone, such as my brother, who condones murder on a television series as long as it's the "good guy" killing the "bad guy" would support capital punishment in real-life situations?

I think this is a philisophical question because I see all these "which child you kill in the room or the raging train is--and yet this is more likely to happen. It forces some decision making.

So lets go with the scenario. There is you. You have a small umbrella, a new born, an old woman, and child with pnemonia, and a date with you. How do you handle the situation?

My grandfather was apparently a memeber of a group of men that were known as the Van Deuse (sorry, my Granny just died - she would know...so I'm guessing) and they fought in the second world war...any info would be great!
