I have some original bricks from the Indianapolis Speedway. They date back to 1900's. I would like to try to remove all the unwanted debris from them and clean them up for display. They are extremely old and very rare. Any help would be appreciated.

don't do anything to them. the dirt & debris is part of their history. the mortor is especially something to want to keep preserved as well.

if you clean these bricks up, they will loose much of their impact & interest. please don't do it!!!

i would equate this to scraping mortar from a brick belonging to the collisseum... the mortar is part of the prize & history!

Why might want to you want to? The mortar is from the speedway. you are able to cut back the fee of brick by technique of cleansing it. in case you do not care, you are able to chisel off what you are able to and then try an acid wash.

The best way (maybe) is to use a high pressure sprayer, also called a hydro blaster. You can get them at places like Home Depot. they're also used to clean siding.

a brick trowel can take care of the small stuff, for the heavier area a set or chisel can remove it, you have to be careful with the chisel not to break the brick.

I would suggest using a SMALL hammer and light chisel.
OR
use a dremel with a cut off wheel or grinding wheel

Good luck
