Does it really exists or we only think we are in love 'cause we tell ourselves that?

Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love.
While every human being has a capacity for love, its realization is one of the most difficult achievements.
Once we find love in ourselves we will find love in others.

You are talking about the romantic variety. Sure it's real. I think that love is the quiet celebration of someone else's existence other than our own. In some ways it is a mirror to who we are and wish we could be ...I think that too often we confuse the grand gestures of passion as love and we instantly become convinced that we do not or can not love because we do not see these gestures in our lives. Life is not 30 minute Sitcom with problems solved right after the commercial break.....

Love is real. The passionate variety is short-lived. Then there is true, long-lasting love that you see between elderly couples, friends, parents and children; this kind of love isn't always easy, but it is real. Sometimes people only want the passionate kind & think that is the only "true love" out there because they have never experienced the other, or maybe society has influenced them so much that they believe passionate love is the only kind.

Show me an identity criterion like "(x loves y) iff Z"

If ever there was a matter of taste, it is love. There are no rules in advance, no determining conditions. It's the kind of thing that can't be true or false. So no it isn't real.

It is for me, that's the only person I can be absolutely sure of. I believe it is also being returned, but only my wife knows that absolutely.
