previously we used to think that the world was made up of 5 basic elements i.e.earth, water , fire, air and sky. gradually our knowledge increased and now we know that there are about 108 elements. now we also know that a molecule can be broken into atoms and atom is also divisible there are protons, neutrons and electrons. then they are further divisible. there are positrons, quantas and what not.with each increase in so called knowledge, the life become tougher. today we know more than our forfathers. but we also donot know more than what our forfathersdid not know.moreover this knowledge doesnot seem to have made our life any simpler.

I made a mini haunted house last year and purchased a lot of fake heads, arms, organs and the like. I want to do more, but the stuff is a lot of $$$. A fake torso alone can run $100 and they all look the same. I'd like to make my own to save $ and be original. Plus I'm a real DIY type guy anyways. I know people use latex, but I am unsure of how? What kind of paint do I use? Any painting tips?

So.
I've been doing cartoons basically all my life, and i'm trying to make the transition to more "serious" drawings. I thought i'd start with portraits. So if you could explain some tricks and tips for making a REALISTIC portrait, that would be greatly appreciated.

In Britain there was a long running TV show in which viewers would get to vote for the 'Greatest Briton in history. Each episode a candiate would be argued for by a well known contempory person. It was a great series and attracted more votes than pop idol. That is surprising for an intellectual show. Se some of significant Britons mentioned below.

I am interested in what an American top ten would look like - whats yours?

So here are some of the key Britons:

(a) Winston Churchill (he was votest Greatest by the public)

(b) William Shakespear

(c) Kingdom Brunel (Britain was the first country in the world to have an industrial revolution and he was the greatest industrial entrepeneur)

(d) Isaac Newton

(e) Charles Darwin

(f) Horatio Nelson - defeated Napoleon at Trafalgar and so stopped him conquering Britain as he had the rest of Europe.

(g) John Lennon

(i) Alan Turing (inventor of the computer)

(j) Alexander Fleming (discovered penicillin)
