I am looking for some titles of children's books apportiate for pre-schoolers (for me to read to them). What are some of your favorites? If you have the author's name too that would be great.

Thank you

To mention books other than the obvious, John Lithgow has written a series of books that are charming. They come with music cds
I'm a Manatee
Farkle McBride
Marsupial Sue
Micawber
All have really charming illustrations that kids really like.

I also like the Pigeon books
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems
Great pictures and funny concepts.

Two Caldecott winners:
What Do You Do With a Tail Like This by Robin Page
The Red Book by Barbara Lehman

So many books are possibilities! Take the kids to the library and let them pick some out. I have the best memories of the times my father took me to the library.

"Sheepdog in the Snow" is a pretty good book. I think pre-schoolers will really love it. I'm about half way done with it and I really like it. My mom got me the book a year or two ago cause my nick-name in high school was sheepdog cause my hair was long and it reminded everyone of a sheepdog. And I was the only guy with long hair in FFA as well. The book is written by Ben M. Baglio. Hope ya like it. Let me know what ya think about it if ya read it. And it's a 156 page book so it may take a good week or two to read it to preschoolers.

My kids loved the Richard Scarry books. His artwork is fun and they teach the children the names of things. They could look at his books for hours and always see something new to ask me about. Great teaching tool.
Here is a website about the author and it lists his books.
