I made a mini haunted house last year and purchased a lot of fake heads, arms, organs and the like. I want to do more, but the stuff is a lot of $$$. A fake torso alone can run $100 and they all look the same. I'd like to make my own to save $ and be original. Plus I'm a real DIY type guy anyways. I know people use latex, but I am unsure of how? What kind of paint do I use? Any painting tips?

See if any stores in your area are going to be replacing their mannequins. Sometimes some of the resale shops will have odds and ends. (goodwill, etc) I put together several hounted houses when I did PTA several years back. One thing we did that looked really cool was to go to the store and buy chicken feet, suspend them on fishing line from the lid of a very large glass jar, fill the jar with water, screw the lid on, they look like they're moving in the jar. freaked the kids out. ;) (they will smell bad quickly, so you may have to replace them every other day or so)

How do you make fake body parts (torso, arms, legs, etc...) for a haunted house?

I have a suggestion from being into art myself i know a way you can do this: If you could gather some friends, all you need would be plaster, the plaster that is kind of in sheet form it looks like guaze but it is harder. You take that and moisten a couple layers over the body part of your choice on your friend or who ever let it dry, then take scissors and cut a straight line down the side of say the torso or arm, then you plaster the cut open part back up and there you have your torso! or arm or leg! Hope i helped, it is actually very easy to do i promise
