Gotta go with the time of Alexander the Great and the period of the Romans.

Learning of the exploits of Alexander has always peaked my interest; additionally, the Romans and Alexander accomplished so much that the modern world has to thank for.

OMG, the choices!

There's Ancient Rome with all its political intrigue and controversies and constant struggle with morality. I find it so interesting how people from all over the Eastern Hemisphere could be found and accepted around the Mediterranean at that time, yet there are problems of racism today.

Then there's pre-Christian Ireland with all its mystery - the Druids, the Fey, the old tales - and the battles with the Bretons I love books written in this setting, like Juliet Marillier's 'The Sevenwaters Triology'.

Next would be medieval Britain (and, yes, I know it wasn't called that back then). I don't particularly care for the Crusades and all that, but I like to read about the conflict between all the different ethnic groups there: the Irish, the Welsh, the Scots, the Saxons, the Normans. However, I must say I find it extremely annoying when I find movies or books or online stories in which people travel back to this time period and communicate easily with the locals in modern English and aren't singled out for their peculiar surplus of height.

Lastly, there's Regency England if for no other reason that I'm a girl and a sucker for (almost) all the rather awful romance books set in that time period.

I like all history but I have a special facination with Dark Ages Europe. The time between the fall of Rome and before the Norman Conquest of Britian. There isn't a lot written about it so I find it particularly interesting. You know King Arthur, Charlimane, Danish Conquorers.

I think that it would be around the 1200's or the 1300's. There was so much space and beauty everywhere. The main reason that I would choose this period in time is, so that I could have an opportunity to live in a real castle. No kidding, that would be great. I bet there were quite a few that were unbelievable, and I wish that I knew what it was like to genuinely live in one.

Dude.........

My favourite period in history is when:-

1) Moses freed Israelites from the slavery of Egyptian

I choose this because it was a great historical incident that had taken place in the world.Moses freed the Isrealites by the power of God & not by arms & other war means.Though Israelites weren't strong enough, still they could challenge the mighty Egytian amy with the leadership of Moses & help of God.
Many plagues had taken place in Egypt over the Egytians including Pharoah himself, before the Israelites where freed from the bondage oof slavery. It shows the victory of good over evil.

2)The coming of the Messiah

I prefer this because the Word of God became man and dwelled amongst us.It was this period people were waiting for.Jesus freed us from the bondage of sin b dying for us on the cross of Calvary. His message was love, that is:-

a)Love God with all your heart, mind, soul & divinity
b)Love you neighbour as yourself.

Hence these two are my favourite period in history.

The Middle Ages. Many famous ancient buildings were built in this period of history. Many grand, out-standing buildings of high architectural structure and standard.

Elizabethan England. It was an exciting time of history. A changeable time for England (Catholics and Protestants), Elizabeth's rule brought a measure of stability which was of great help to England at the time, and I am a lover of Shakespeare and also of the Puritan influence on England at the time. I would have loved to have been able to be a gekko on a wall (I hate flies).

Every era of history is interesting in it's own right but, let's see, I'd have to say the 1920s-1940s.

I wanted to apologize before answering this question because I am to claim that my favorite historic era was World War II. Sounds disgustingly sadistic and pessimistic. But very surprisingly I find a few other friends expressed that they were fascinated with those times that were unfortunate.

My reason to admire word war two era is looking upon it after taking a step back to look the entire picture and its consequences from a distance. World war II offered a submerged postive side to the evolution of world and mankind in general. It accelerated the process of decvelopment in every arena, including world peace. Its like a gaint shock wave that stabilizes everything to its perfect hormany. Those who did not leant lessons died and those who learnt lessons are cautious. Many facets of human ego, discrimination and suprression were dragged out of their closets and dealt individually by statemen and nations. Every person on the earth started understanding the segnifcance of his own roll to contribute. Majority of the people sypathyse with Japan for the atomic bomb explosion. But my heart goes for Germany and its people. before war, they were raped by Adolph Hitler and after war... they were raped by allies. Their country was broken in to two pieces with a wall built in between. They were taken to unrealistic euphoria during the early days of war and lead to saddest depression post war. they emerged today as the strongest nation with no peripheral claims made. They excelled in vital fields of engineering and technology.
