That Muslim women are mistreated and beaten because of verse 4:34 in the koran? I mean, just because it says the men can beat them, doesn't mean they do right? It's just like symbolism? Maybe like how at communion, Christians pretend to drink Christ's blood and eat his flesh, but it's just a cracker and grape juice...right? I mean, just because they actually do get beat, or shall I say, there are "alleged" reports of them being beat and mistreated...and they are forced into lives of subjugation in most Muslim lands, that doesn't mean anything right? I mean, as long as they toe the line and obey the master, er uh, I meant *man*, everything is copastetic, correct? So it's not all bad, right? The beating clause of 4:34 is basically a last resort, like when you are training a puppy to be housebroken, and you first use redirection, then time in the kennel, then a swat with a rolled-up newspaper...same deal, right? Just with human females?

Ok, I know this is the wrong section for this but nobody could give more answers then mothers (and fathers too). But this is my first Christmas hosting dinner and I'm not sure what all I should make. What have you understood from this? Have you gotten the point that honor killing has no place in Islam? And about 4 witnesses, that has nothing to do with rape. When the woman is tested and examined and its proven, that is proof enough and the rapist is to be stoned. What say you?

But the Koran specifically requires four eyewitnesses to prove the crime of zina. There is no evidence unless there are witnesses.

I have a room mate who is doing drugs and drinking in our apartment, just got a DUI, drunk driving on a suspended license, coming home at all hours of the night, and brings home a different person every night to sleep on MY brand new couch. I am losing sleep, I feel uncomfortable in my own home, and when I confront my room mate about it, the reply I get is, "My friend was too drunk to drive home" or "I'll get my own couch so my friends have a place to sleep". I tell my room mate that his friends don't pay rent here so they are not entitled to a place to sleep but he is not seeing it my way. We are both on the lease to the apartment. Is there anything I can do to get him out?

I have a hormonal inbalance. When I was 16 I had acne on my back and discovered I have a high level of androgens. I've been taking anti-androgens in a combined contraceptive pill for 6 years now. Every time I take a break, my acne reapper. I'm just wondering if anyone had similar problems and how they took care of them.
I also found out that women who have polycystic ovaries have higher levels of androgens, and that coul lead to infertility. Is there any other cause of high androgen levels? How is polycystic ovary sindrome diagnosed?
I don't want to take contraceptive pills all my life, but the acne are a problem. Apart from them being disgusting, they hurt and cause a lot of discomfort.
The pill has some sideffects after a longer period, the main one being a reduced libido.
Anyway, I think your experiences could help.

i think my kids put in a hub instead of a port on my computer now it wont work - is there a way to check and see if it can be fixed - or is there a place that i can send the whole stick and have a disc made of the photos on it - i am really upset about this whole situation - maybe its just out of kilter somehow - i tried to fix it by the sandisk site but for some reason my computer wont let me delete the files they tell me to take out to reinstall the usb stick - maybe thats not the right way to go anyway - or is it possible that the contacts are dirty and can they be cleaned - i have about 500 photos on it and would hate to lose them especially since i was just getting ready to transfer them to a new stick today

Seems like there are some people who are on TV or in the news media often, some people go thru their whole lives without ever seeing their names in print or their faces staring at them from the local news. I have found myself in the former catagory, because I have been in business and done charity stuff and often found myself being interviewed. Plus I have done newpaper articles, etc. And I'm not camera shy, so It doesn't bother me. And never at a loss for words, lol!
Today my hubby who works for Home Depot and is their designated TV guy for the garden center, just came home for lunch and said he has to be on discussing generators. (we have a storm system coming in, and last year people died in our area because they didn't use generators responsibly during the January ice storm). How about you all? Do you shy away from the media, or are you out there, not because you seek it but because you tend to be tabbed as a spokesperson when nobody else wants to?
