Seems like there are some people who are on TV or in the news media often, some people go thru their whole lives without ever seeing their names in print or their faces staring at them from the local news. I have found myself in the former catagory, because I have been in business and done charity stuff and often found myself being interviewed. Plus I have done newpaper articles, etc. And I'm not camera shy, so It doesn't bother me. And never at a loss for words, lol!
Today my hubby who works for Home Depot and is their designated TV guy for the garden center, just came home for lunch and said he has to be on discussing generators. (we have a storm system coming in, and last year people died in our area because they didn't use generators responsibly during the January ice storm). How about you all? Do you shy away from the media, or are you out there, not because you seek it but because you tend to be tabbed as a spokesperson when nobody else wants to?

I don't think I photograph well at all, but everybody else seems to think I do OK.
Sometimes I cringe when I watch it, but I always do it again.

We've both been on so many times that we know the TV interviewers in our town, and it is like talking with old friends, so that makes it easier. But it was scary the first time!

Yes, and my grand-kids were little and they seen me on TV, they were so proud and thought I was famous.
They didn't know it, but I was shaking in my shoes.
I worked in the field of domestic violence for 16 years and being the director, gave me no choice, it was all part of the position that I held.
Domestic Violence, is an area where most workers don't stay for long. It's not easy to see the abuse on a daily basis. Everyday, you deal with a case and you go home thinking you have seen it all, only to return to work the next day, and see the worst case scenario of abuse again.
I dedicated 16 years of my life, to do everything I could possibly think of, to help victims of abuse and also working through the Judicial System and how to deal with the abuser.
My face or name were in the newspaper more often than not, and no . . . since I'm not photogenic, I didn't like the snap shot but it really and truly wasn't about me. It was information about the victims and the abuser.
When I retired , I was the only domestic violence worker that had that many years and expertise in that field. I help write state policy many times throughout the years, as the laws changed and the abuse escalated.
I did have to do some writing for the news paper, thanking businesses and organizations for contributing to our cause and informing the public of events and fundraisers for victims of abuse.
When my children were in school, I was elected PTA President, that was my first introduction to public speaking.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done, being nervous and knowing I had to show my courage for my childrens benifit. Again it was not my choice, but my duty to represent the students and the school.

I have been a few times. First it was when I was in high school. We went to the state capitol building and pretended to pass bills. It was a very cool weekend.
Next was in high school, we had a tv station that held live bands and you could watch people dance to the music. I went with my friend a few times and they showed me on tv.
Where I had worked they were doing a story on an older senior citizen who was still car hopping. They used me and my daughter to pretend to be customers as it was a windy cold day and no one had showed up during the time they were there. They were more captivated with my little girl though than the woman they were doing the story about.
They were doing a telethon when my oldest son was a baby, and it was at the mall. They showed me holding my son asking people to donate so other children could be like him. We didn't know until recently that he has spina bifida. He is 25 years old now.

I was first on TV on a kiddie show called the Captain and the kids. Since then , I have been on many times as a spokesperson for a local police department. Don't think they picked me because I'm photogenic, which I'm decidedly not.
I don't seek it out, but when it's part of my job I just accept it.

My television debut was when my Brownie troop was on the Bozo the Clown show. I was acting a little silly, so the camera rested on me for more than long enough to embarrass my family. As a college freshman, I was escorted by a friend in ROTC to the governor's inaugural ball, and we were on the dance floor right next to the governor. My grandmother saw me on the news and called my mother to tell her that a girl who looked just like me was on TV. She never believed my mom that it was me. I've been on the news a few times when they've come to our school and wanted to tape teachers who were "innovative". Or was it for "crazy sock day"?

Yes, at Christmas time and in the news as part of my job. I don't like the way I look on TV and get real nervous! I don't like giving interviews for my job either as they print what they want and twist my words to make the story more interesting as the expense of our program. This was many years ago.

Been on TV a few times. Once on PBS doing. Once on a news broadcast in Houston during the International Festival. Both of these were for work. I did animal presentations.
The next one was for one of those early morning shows. I do not know which one it was. This was also for work but instead of animal presentations, I did some science demonstations.

No pies and gunge really, but the bit in Only Fools and Horses where Del Boy is trying to look cool for a woman and doesn't notice the bar has moved, so falls down. Also, when they are moving houses for someone, Uncle Albert and Rodney are holding a cloth under a chandalier to catch it and Del Boy is unscrewing one from above. Cue horror when Rodney and Albert realise they are holding the cloth under the wrong chandalier...
