It all depends on you, your religion shouldn't have much to do with it. You really need to loosen up if "everyone" thinks your strict. Who wants to be seen as the constant killjoy?

No, for someone who's not familiar with Catholicism I can see why it would seem strict. However, they fail to see the grace with which God Himself bestows in order to live accordingly. It's really a true joy to be able to live according to our Creators standards without giving in to our own weaknesses.
Be aware though, there are many liberal Catholic perishes out there that blatantly go against what the Magesterium and the Church teaches. Don't be fooled, liberal Catholicism is not authentic, historic Catholic Christianity.

I think that people say that to avoid the fact that they dont want to be accountable for their own actions. They say things like "Catholic's are strict", and compared to what? Doing whatever you want? Yes, anything organized is considered strict compared to doing whatever you want. Consider anything with rules at all? Sports, laws, school, even board games. Anything that has rules can be considered strict, by those who dont follow them.

It depends. Many aspects of Catholicism fly in the face of what is morally acceptable according to secular social standards. A (proper) Catholic does not tolerate abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, or legalized same-sex marriage.
A proper Catholic sticks to their theological "guns" on these issues dispite (sometimes overwhelming) presure from secular peers.
A Catholic's unwillingness to bend on such issues sometimes yields the label "strict" from those who disagree with the Church.

It depends - strict about what? unlike some religions, we're allowed to have music and dance at weddings, we're allowed to drink, smoke and get tattoos. We can marry outside of our religion and not get shunned.
We're strict about pro-life, but really, what christian religion promotes abortion? The church is also strict about birth control (which I think is silly - abstinence is also a conscious choice to prevent conception) and male priests.

The funniest part of that is that the ones that really are strict seem to have been the originators of that myth.

Yes and I think God is strict. God cannot look upon sin in the least degree of tolerance. But, luckily for us, God has provided a way of redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ.

No, I'm Catholic and we really aren't that strict. It depends on your family and how they are.
