Not in all movies.. I mean there are movies like Argon and dragon heart where the dragon is good. But I can see what you mean. In most movies/stories reptilians usually are scary so they portray then as the villain.

Actually I thought some of the movies seem to be getting better about that. Originally that was the way books and movies portrayed dragons but recently there have been a few that have had other opinions. Dragonheart and Eragon come to mind for examples.

You're right, they usually are (except in Pete's Dragon) but pay a little closer attention and you'll see even more symbolism in regards to good and evil. Ever notice that in the movies, when there's a fight between good and evil, evil is nearly always presented in darker colors and good in lighter?
Star Wars: Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker
Three Musketeers: Rochefort vs. D'Artagnan
Little Mermaid: Ursula vs. Ariel
and the list goes on......

it is all a metaphor. if I were to present you with something a simple as a grass field; a big one just flat land. Then present you with a horse and dragon.
dragon hunting the horse.
how can you make the dragon evil and horse good? or at least inicont? that is easy right?
then turn around and say we are the grass. what eats grass (or hey)
so then the dragon is good stopping the horse?
MY POINT IS that ether way you look at it the story is up to interpretation.
but yes I see your point.

Not always. Take Christopher Paolini's "Inheritance" trilogy... In his fictional world, dragons are complex, highly intelligent and extremely powerful beigns that are essentially good, but can sometimes be corrupted and become evil... Saphira, the blue she-dragon of the protagonist (Eragon), is one of the main positive characters.
And as far as I know, in Asia dragons are thought to bring good luck...
