It's constantly in the financial news now about how the credit crunch is going to affect us all in a bad way and perhaps even lead to a recession in the economy, but what does this actually mean for your average joe, (worst case scenario).

As far as i can see the worst that could happen is that it becomes a bit harder to get a loan or a mortgage and house prices will come down. But most people in britain want them to come down because they've been too high for years! Why are the media portraying this as a bad thing. If it becomes harder to get a high mortage, surely the negative effects of that will be cancelled out by falling house prices?

Other than these points how could a recession/credit crunch possibly harm you're average joe?

Could it be likely to cause deflation, (if thats the opposite of inflation?) Even if salaries drop on average, again that will surely cancel the effects out?

As long as i have the money to go where I want, and buy what i want, I can't see a problem

I have just welcomed my daughter into the world and need a nickname for her grandmother. My mother has plenty of grandchildren and they call her Mamo (from the Gaelic). This is my wife's mother's first grandchild and we need a good name for her. Her heritage is German, English, Irish, French and Native American, she is from the Carolinas if that helps. Gran, Grandma, Granny are just too old and too pretentious. Mamo is great, we want this one to be great, too.

ok I have a heating question it has recently turned winter and my electricity bills have shot up I think due to the 2kwh electric heater that I have, now I was told that if I got and oil filled heater it would be cheaper, now assuming that I got a 2kwh oil heater how much would it cost to run per hour, I worked out the electric one costs me 21pence per hour. Would oil be cheaper and how much would it be?

i was in this relationship with a guy that had problems with underage drinking and drug use. he'd get high on a regular basis and then mess around with me. So i told him if he didn't give up drugs we won't even be friends. We wound up becoming best friends. A few weeks ago i was told by one of my friends that he had told her he had been doing drugs again so i confronted him about it and he told me he did but it was a "one time thing". So as if i didn't have trust issues with him before now he's breaking promises. it took me about 2 weeks to begin to believe he was telling the truth. So today the friend that told me about him starting up drugs again told me that this weekend he did again. I confronted him about it again and he told me he didn't. I don't know who i should believe. He's broken promises, lied to my face, and abused me before. And my friend was right the first time. I don't know who to believe. You always want to be the girl he'll change for. I don't think he'd give them up

Life sucks dosen,t it. Sure im o.k. now but with all the stupid drivers out their they could even kill your kids...........dosent people piss you off, let alone life.
