M'kay soooo....my birthday is on Thursday!!!
I'm a teenager.
I WAS going to have a party, but changed my mind at the last minute. Instead, I'm just spending the whole day with my two best friends. Besides, movies, mall, restaurant, and skating, what other fun things can we do??

PS. Don't say "go to an amusement" park because there are none around here whatsover.

There is a bill in the works that would freeze a persons sub prime mortgage at the rate it was before it is adjusted.

Does anyone have more detials on this? Does anyone know when this might pass?

Every time I see this tiny hunched over elderly woman doing work a young person should be doing my heart breaks. I tried to figure out if she was working still because she had to or if she did it to stay active? I found out the worst...it was because she had to. Her daughter works in the video dept and had brain surgery, they are stacked with medical bills so the whole family works to pay it off. My heart broke when I found that out. Yesterday I was at Safeway getting a couple items and saw her pushing carts, it was 11 degrees out!! She had no coat or gloves on! Her daughter ran up to her and rubbed her hands and gently pushed back her hair and hugged her. I swear I almost cried looking at that! I went over and hugged the elderly woman. She welcomed it and held my hand I wanted so much to just make everything better, pay off their bills etc. I don't have a lot of money but what could my family do for their family for Christmas, something that would really make a difference?

why christmas has become all about presents and gifts and less about the true meannig, celebrating the birth of our lord and savior Jesus. I know that he was not actually born on December 25th but why has it become so absorbed with buying things?

I guess it's safe to say I'm a 'writer.'

I have this unnatural 'need' to put my pen to paper.

It's almost addicting.

I've been on the search for LEGITIMATE writing contests. However, the search usually ends with me scratching my head at yet another dead-end.

Any possible leads finish with 'more-than-fishy' circumstances: (Social Security Number, Credit Card number, and sometimes they ask for a hefty amount of cash, all in the hopes that they 'might' read my poem/short story within the following 'months.')

Whether they were an actual threat I don't know, but I stay clear of those.

I've even heard about possible 'cash' prizes for works of fiction.

Yes I like to write, but to possibly make money for doing something I love? It's a no-brainer. I don't want to sound cocky, but I feel I have what it takes to win 'something.'

So, I'm turning to my fellow 'Yahoo!' users for help: Any LEGITIMATE writing contests with 'cash' prizes?

Yes, the money would help!!!

I know many find it weird to be into tickling, but I pretty much have been this way as long as I can remember. Forever, it was a sense of shame because it is different. I only tell girlfriends about this, my current one is great about it. Anyone else? Who do you tell and how have they reacted? I know lots of people on here think it's a weird thing to be into.

Everyone is taking Hedge Fund (super investment machines) donations but Ron Paul. He is the only one. Hedge Fund Managers are courting the candidates to get them to do what they wish and to not tax them! Ironically the most funded are the Dems, but both parties are taking huge donations and are entertaining them. When in office they will have to repay these exuberant donations one way or another! I guess John McCain sees this as being "outside" lobby restrictions! Hypocrites!

It's these things that go under our noses during the debates!

Happy Holidays!

I think I am going to tell my Mom, today, that when I was 12 and 13 I looked at a few adult, fictional stories. I have good grades, great friends, and I have always had good morals. What I did when I was 12, and 13 was the worst thing I will probably ever do in my whole life. The past week I have been extremely upset, and crying about what I did. Should I tell her, or not? I have a wonderful relationship with my Mom, (I always have) and I think she will understand my confused feelings. However on the other hand I am worried she will never think of me the same way again. I feel like I need to tell her, but I am not sure how. I am so confused... I don't want her to think I am of me as a weirdo. My Mom means everything to me.

I just started a new job & I'm ready to quit. The pay is horrible & they do not train new associates. Then when I ask questions, everyone even the managers roll their eyes & talk to me like I'm a child. I have been doing my share of the work & others'.

I have a limited availability. I got this job to help out with bills (didn't need the job, just wanted to help out) but the pay will barely cover the gas I use up to get to work. At first, I had the idea that any job, any extra money would be good. But now, I don't think I can continue to work for people who don't respect me. I haven't found a single friendly co-worker. I'm not looking for friends, just someone who will teach me my job without talking down to me.

I am considering just not going back. My customers have better attitudes than my co-workers. My co-workers are even rude to the customers. I don't feel the pay ($6.45/hr 20-25 hrs/wk) is worth the hassle & stress. Should I just move on & find another job?

My dad is a psychic medium. Me myself am unsure of my psychic abilities. I can sometimes see orbs, sence presences when no one else is around, feel i am being watched. I walk into some old houses and in some rooms i feel like something or somebody doesnt want me there. i flood with depressing emotion and instantly want to leave. I get flashes/flashbacks of images or scenes that aren't from our times. eg. a grass mound with a scruffy man with longish brown hair about 6ft tall wearing an old torn shirt, short old fashioned trousers and brown leather boots about to get hung. I think i may me psychic or connected into the spirit world in someway. Do mediums normally run in the family? Am i a medium? I think i do have the gift - but i just need to develop it. I'm not scared by any of this - i want to learn - i need to learn - i am intruiged by my experiences through out my life and want to understand why i am feeling, hearing and seeing these things. Your opinions will mean alot thankyou!

I'm not interested in what they think. And strangely - when they aren't busy pushing their views on others - they incessantly whine that Chistians proselytise ( they don't,except for fundies, and most Christians are Catholic or Orthodox).

Okay, a bit of an exaggeration to call it anarchist, but it has a bit of that feel to it amid the romance, tragedy and imagery. I love the poem now that I've heard Loreena McKennit bring it to life, but thinking about the portrayal of "the red coat troop"... it moves me in a way I can't really describe.
The portrayal is so ominous and almost ironic to me when it is stressed that these are " 'King' George's men"...
Any thoughts, opinions? Asterisk-ridden rants about how terrible I am at interpreting the poem?

I recently started talking to my mom's side of the family again. (We have only spoken a few times in the last 20 years, since my mom's funeral actually). So, I saw an advert for this site and I starting putting in all the info, then I asked my Gram and she has a chart with 12 generations already mapped out that she is going to mail me. How do you chart your family tree? Do you use a book to record everything? I am really excited!
